Hey Dominique The Professional truck driver. I watch your videos for some time now, I like it when you and your old man or at the auctions enjoy those. But to the point don't be so hard on yourself I understand how you feel your young but you're a seasoned driver. We're all only human we make mistakes and that's a given, and you learn from it. And don't be ashamed of what you done but back into the vehicle, I still have the utmost respect for you as a damn good truck driver. As a Colorado log hauler I can relate. I've had my share of accidents and screw-ups, even a layover turnover, felt so bad I just want to crawl in a hole and hide haha LOL. I got a lot of respect for you and the owner-operator It's A Hard Road and you seem to be making it work. And you no injury or death in your accident that's a good outcome hang in there and the best of luck looking forward to more videos God bless you and yours

Hey you know I don't live in America, I am in the UK, I used to own an old ford fiesta mark 6 Zetec from 2003, was my first car and I loved it to bits, I remember pulling into the petrol station one day to buy fuel, so I filled up and noticed someone had parked in front of me in the first pump bay, someone comes in behind me a little close and is waiting to fill up, I could have waited for the car to go in front as it was a tight exit to turn my front wheels at full lock, but I didn't and I was a little stressed out about me being boxed in, I didn't think really, tried to edge out and I caught the cars back bumper with my front bumper, I felt such an idiot and I felt so bad, I said I am so sorry for doing that do you want my insurance details, I got out and looked and said I haven't done anything else have I? Oh why did I do that, he could see I was so upset and that I had done more damage to my front bumper instead of his back one, he said as you are such a nice person and you didn't mean to do this etc, I think a bit of T-cut should get rid of that little scratch, I said are you sure about this, he said yes it is fine you go on ahead, I got in and waved to him with a down look on my face, I felt relieved but still felt so down, you are right these things happen, we aren't perfect and even though it was a few years ago now and I have a new car, I still managed to curb my lovely penta wheel 😣 on my new car, the fact that you delt with it calmly and was willing to help out shows pure honestly, a really good person and a really good driver, we learn but it happens, you are right and I completely agree no one can go about their life not doing something to their vehicle, or other people's vehicles by accident, but that fact we deal with it and are willing to help, makes all that important difference, I can relate to you I really can. Though I never did get rid of that mark on the side of the bumper haha, but it was a reminder to me to wait next time if it's tight 🤣 or get out and look my dad would say. Thank you for sharing, and I am always willing to share too.

I’ve been trucking for close to 25 years. It’s very easy for things like this to happen. All you can do is own your mistakes, learn from them, and move on. Sounds like that’s exactly what you’ve done here. The very best drivers I’ve ever known have screwed up a whole bunch of times, and learned from every one of them. Lord knows I’ve had some dooseys!

@@DauminiqueTheDumpTruckDriver In the larger City near me (Calgary) People hit Pedestrians and leave, what you did is no big deal. You owned up to your mistake. You are fine. A Driver hit my Brother and left too. My Brother hauls a Super-B full of Butane that is used to thin the oil down in the Pipeline going south, so that could of really been bad. You are far from an idiot driver. You are a professional from what I’ve seen over the years. My father had about 5 Million Accident Free Miles when he passed away in Jan of 2020. 😢 The worst Accident he had before he was at the Company he was at when he passed was pretty bad. When he first started trucking some guy pulled into a Service Station to get Gas and casually mentioned to the Clerk he was going to commit Suicide. My dad was coming into town fully loaded with Cattle and the Guy pulled out from the Service Station right in front of my Dad. My Dad T-Boned his Car and Rolled I guess there were Cattle everywhere. I wish People wouldn’t involve other People if they are going to do things. Killing that Man was with my Father his whole life.

When I was training for LTL city work my trainer shared the most important words of wisdom that I think we all need to hear or read. He told me "don't let all these other people that don't have a clue rush you into making a costly mistake they can wait you have a job to do." He's very right, most of the people in cars couldn't care less about being in your way when your making turns or trying to get out of a lot. So why should I care about their brief inconvenience while I'm trying to do my job and do it safely.

It’s tough to keep your focus when in a difficult situation. Years back my grandpa told me that, not just in trucking but, in life there will be “bumps” along the way and we have to take them and learn from those experiences how to avoid them on the next trip. He also said the more that I dwell on the mistakes I make that it allows for more to be made. Good for you by handling this situation by keeping honest with yourself. Nowadays most people would’ve tried to lie their way out of this had they been the one responsible for the damage. 👏👏

One of the many reasons I dislike driving in the Seattle area. Even though I'm running an F250 with a 32' gooseneck I always check the google earth view to get a better idea of what I'll facing and I've still managed to run into tight spots. When I see a gal driving a rig, that impresses me so thanks. I've done a fair amount of truck driving over the years but I was also a law enforcement officer for 30 years and the fact you made it right, came forward, admitted to you error, speaks volumes. Hello Nikki, listening to you tell your story, I remembered a trip with an A train loaded with commercial grade bleach. when I was loading in Squamish BC the man at the loading facility put some product on a rag and walked 30 feet into a field and dropped the rag and walked back to the loading dock and said "Just watch". about a minute later it exploded into flames and the guy said "be careful you don't hit your tanks! " I got into the same scenario as you and not wanting to obstruct traffic I pulled down a side street and Tada, I was screwed! The lead tank was attached to my Tractor but the second tank was connected with a converter and I could not back up. I got out and walked, trying to find a way out of a residential area and found a road that ported out to a main road. Walked back to my rig and a few minutes later I was clear but it was close! So I feel your pain.

The best thing since sliced bread? No, i have a guardian angel who could be found collapsed in a corner gasping for breath more than once. We must always try to do better, always learning from mistakes. We must also accept that despite our utmost efforts things can go wrong. Doesnt make it better, but thats life live. The important thing is to take responsibility for our actions no matter what. The who makes no mistakes has never done anything at all.

No biggie, happens to everyone eventually. The fact that you try and care is what's important. I made it to I was 55 before I had my first incident where it was my fault. It was embarrassing but no one was hurt. Keep on trucking young lady.

Don’t beat yourself up. We all make mistakes. Owning up to a situation like this says so much about you as a driver, mother and a wife. Keep up the great work. 3 days before I retired after 46yrs of driving I had a driver side swipe my truck and drive off. It’s great to see someone care as much as you do. Keep trucking.

Haha I agree 100% with you. After so many years as a driver I knew exactly the people who scolded you for being human. I had about 10 of them show up in the comments. My predictions were correct!

I don’t see how this could be considered a big mess up when it was an accident caused by extreme circumstances. You took immediate ownership of the situation and rectified the situation. Life happens. Looking at the situation from both sides, you did everything perfect to resolve the matter the best way possible.

It happens! You are way to hard on yourself. I am a class B driver and there are a lot of messed up drivers out there because frankly...they don't care! You are obviously not one of them. Take care and God bless ❤

I watched this last night but waited till today to comment. I feel bad for you, but as I tell my kids, "you need to be accountable for what you do, and for what you don't do". People will respect you for being honest, and don't make excuses for things you have control over.

I never knew what to expect at a job site Driving an 18wheel frameless dump can get you in a bind, but not as much as your tandem We didn't have Google map thirty years ago so I did a route recon before taking the job, when not familiar with the actual location You did good with your situational awareness👊

You found out what happened, and you took care of it. It happens. I know people who have had to fight major trucking companies because of minor accidents. As a small business owner, you did the right thing. If I had been that guy, I would have no problem calling you later to haul dirt or gravel for me.

It's not if it's when something will happen. 45 years in the business I have had a couple of screw ups. Absolutely nothing to be upset over. You did the right thing by taking care of the damage.. stay focused do your best and all will be good.👍😉
