Zoro was close to Luffy until katakuri fight then the gap widened up due to future sight. Zoro closed that gap when he got Enma as Enma drew out his latent Conquerors haki and gave Zoro a shortcut straight to Advanced CoC. But then Luffy got the Prison time physical buff and Advanced Armament buff increasing the gap. Then he got Advanced CoC, which basically put him beyond Zoro. At that point he outclassed Zoro plain and simple. Then add G5, Luffy is now washing Zoro.
