Two cultural notes: 1) Graham, as you told George, “oni” in the case of Re:Zero, is referring to an ogre-like creature. So Rem and Ram are from a magically strong demi-human race. But “oni” can also refer to the demon in Hell, like the blue and red demons you see when Goku in DBZ dies and goes to train with King Kai. So just by context, “oni” can refer to either the Hellish demons and ogre-like demons. That’s why “oni” is translated into English either as “demon” or “ogre.” Second, Subaru’s mix up of the idiom comes from the English saying, “two heads are better than one,” and the Japanese saying, “three arrows are stronger than one.” The “three arrows” origin comes from a famous story of Warring States period samurai warlord (daimyou) Mori Motonari, and how he got his quarreling adult sons to work together by demonstrating that he could easily snap a single arrow in half, but couldn’t when he bundled three arrows together. This helped the Mori clan to survive when Oda Nobunaga, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and Tokugawa Ieyasu conquered all of Japan. 52:17 George, you have good taste… Betty and Rem are certainly strong candidates for “Best Girl.” So your top five are: Subaru, Rem, Puck, Rom, and Emilia. Suburu has at times referenced prior lives or knowledge around others without intending to explain his powers and the witch didn't react. It is only when he intends to explain his powers that the witch stops him.

Nor exactly. He doesn't necessarily have to explain the power for there to have an affect. If he references a bit too much, then there are levels of intensity

Yes, he is providing Ram with mana since she can not collect it on her own. It's also why she tapped out so quick in the forrest; she can only work off mana she gets from Roswal. Sime advance warning: Subaru gets insufferable for a bit in the next handful of episodes. Ride it out. He needs to get his pride beaten out of him to grow as a person.
