@3:35 Crowd Didn't seem appreciate Wayne's "joke" at first, neither did I and I still don't. There have been black admirals, generals, captains, ambassadors and so on and so on and so on within the Star Trek Franchise. Also, within the franchise, Robert April captained the Enterprise (The first EVER Captain of the Enterprise - helped build and commission it in fact) and he was black - portrayed in Strange New Worlds by Adrian Holmes.

Does that not demonstrate Wayne's point within the joke? Robert April previously appeared many years ago in The Animated Series, where he was shown to be white. Thanks to improving sensibilities about representation, this character has now been depicted as black, but that's a change. Some people even got upset about it. Incidentally, while representation in side characters (which is what high-ranking Starfleet personnel and ambassadors usually are) is important, the captain in a show is typically very important. Star Trek has a fairly good history of this sort of thing, but it's evolving and improving as society does.
