Are you doing any version of a no-buy / low buy year in 2025? What are your thoughts on Project 0? Let me know!

I will just keep sticking to my budget. I even have £70ish pounds left over from 2024❤

I do low buy all the time 😂 I don't enjoy shopping or throwing clothes out that are still wearable, so I buy only a few pieces a year.

I did a no-buy year a while back. After that I started set a spending limit for clothing. I’m not super-strict with this as I have a few exceptions and allow myself to use, for example, January’s budget if I want to buy something during Black Friday. Having a budget has really helped me with being more mindful when purchasing items and weighing them against each other. Looking forward to seeing your thoughts on your low-buy year.

@@Jessicaaljp thank you for sharing! Sounds like you've found something that works for you, and I can totally see that if you budget, you're better able to predict and allocate spending for when it makes most sense (i.e. sales season)

I'm planning a budget too. Would you tell me which budget works for you and do you have any advice?
@Jessicaaljp15 сағат бұрын
@@FreyhaBee Hi, I’m still trying to find out what works best for me but I do have a couple of things I’ve learned. First I wouldn’t recommend a ”yearly” budget, at least not during the first year. I did and spent my entire budget by April. Adding to the clothing budget every month is probably best to start out, and then by year two it can be adjusted if needed. I also recommend deciding if there should be exceptions to the budget or not (in which case it’s probably best to avoid spending the entire budget so there’s always something available for emergencies). Lastly I’d recommend having a good (and easy) way to document what you’ve bought, how much you spent on it and how much money is currently available. I use the notes app on my phone. Good luck!

Well, I try something close this year with my books. I'm not allowed to buy new or second-hand books or get them as a present, unless I has already read them and REALLY want them in my collection. This persues three main goals: stop impulse buying books, read books on my shelves and regulary use my local library. I never was so strict to myself before, but I desperatly need some discipline. 😅
@FreyhaBee22 сағат бұрын
I want to try to avoid firsthand-purchases, to shop firsthand only when I can't find the item secondhand and when the source is sustainable. I also want to give me a monthly budget but not sure yet what is realistically and what will work (challenging, but not too restrictive)

Project 0 is a really cool concept! I love the idea to motivate yourself to sell tonbuild your fond for new items. I so, so feel you on what you said about hoping you'd be in a different stage at this age. I've been trying to buy a home for a decade now and prices just keep going up and life is not easy 🤣

I think its the motivation I need in order to sell them 😅 Totally feel you, fingers crossed this is the year it happens for you!

I’m working through “to buy or not to buy”. It’s been incredible for my maladaptive shopping habit brain! Things like “no browsing” make tons of sense, but I genuinely wouldn’t have had that commitment/idea if I was doing a no buy. Also, I 100% can just spend money in all kinds of ways that seem fine, but are still over consuming. Like, I didn’t let myself buy clothing, so my brain was like “buy bras and underwear!” which, yes, they needed replacing. But still, it’s just not ideal that my decision to do it now was 100% a way to wiggle out of my rule to not buy clothes. So, all that to say, I really enjoy your channel & I really think project 0 is a great idea!
@MiliVelikovaКүн бұрын
@@mariekelley7557 haha I'm super familiar with that, our brains are so smart yet sneaky! I think for me when I did the no buy, it was very strict and it helped - there was literally no wiggle room besides "I'm buying a foundation when I run out". But I think right now I'm better able to control myself, so even less strict rules help enough - and I'm excited to see how it goes! Thank you for always watching and supporting!

I'm doing a low buy this year. I'll allow myself to only buy items I really need and/or have been on my wishlist for long. I set a monthly budget. No impulse purchases, no shopping for fun. I'll thrift instead of buying new items when possible. I'm not buying any make up products besides replacements.

Ooh could you please share a brand recommendation for the strapless bra? I’ve tried a few and I really want a pair that actually works and doesn’t slowly slide down during the day 🙈🙈
@mariekelley7557Күн бұрын
Do you have fiber recommendations for people who are allergic to wool? I try to buy silks and cottons where I can, but it’s really tough to fully avoid acrylic/polyester esp in winter.
@MiliVelikovaКүн бұрын
@@mariekelley7557 I can totally appreciate it's a challenge! So one thing I've read is that alpaca doesn't contain the same chemical (lanolin) found it sheep wool, so it might be a better option. Other people say they are fine with superfine merino wool, as it doesn't trigger allergies. I think it's a very personal thing that you might need to test yourself. But if nothing else, I'd say a thermal layer + any acrylic/ polyester/ cotton jumper will be fine - in this case you have to work with the fabrics available to you :)
@happytofu516 сағат бұрын
It definetly sucks. I try to avoid wool and other animal products, but winter is really hard in that regard. There are sweaters made from cotton knit. They are not super duper warm, but if I layer it with a thermo shirt (made from polyester, but at least well made), its warm enough.

I'm banning first hand purchases this year. I've bought firsthand in the end of 2023 and a bit throughout 2024. I rarely bought clothing for most of my life, so it's not a problem to do so. But now I want to have a break. Edit: I also bought money from clothes I sold on Vinted in 2023 :0

I totally hear you! My life took a very unexpected turn at 30 and then again at 33 so now that I just turned 35 I can totally relate to your 'why's. 🫂 I started consuming less and shopping second-hand for environmental reasons but I am grateful for that habit now that I need to rethink both lifestyle and finances. Actually doing 'project zero' in most areas of life inadvertently after joining a resale platform where I list my unused items and shop accordingly. Not only clothes, but also art supplies, books, sports equipment, etc. Will be very encouraging to follow your trip here! P.S. Tights are probably the one thing that I won't consider 'shopping' because unfortunately they are almost always a one-time-wear. I don't wear them that often though, so probably I could just switch to pants once/if I've run out of the existing tights 😄
@MiliVelikovaКүн бұрын
@@4eburawka18 oh that's great that you're doing it in all areas, I think it will help us both so much to use things and enjoy them! For tights, one tip I learned is to always buy one size up - in this way, there's less tension and I've found that they last me longer!
