Finally back again! I love being back out on the roads again. This is the first of about 8 parts of this journey along the EDT. Hope to see you back next Sunday for the next installment!

Great to see you back Mike, I've followed your journeys ever since you rode with Darren Alff as I was a follower of his journeys as well, shame he gave it away, so I've also been a subscriber to your channel since you began. You've really stepped up your video expertise Mike and your productions are very professional and a joy to watch. I like the way you tell the story, to educate your viewers on your part of the world, many of us may never get that far in the world. Your Scandanavian region is absolutely breathtaking......I can't wait until the next episode of the EDT. Thanks for taking us along Mike...take care mate!!

Always interesting places, border crossings. I'm old enough to have travelled through East Germany to Berlin a few times and many other borders in Europe when you needed a passport, then didn't need one and now, after bloody Brexit, we need one again! Great start to your trip and looking forward to the rest of your vlogs..

Mike, great to see a new video from you. Once again, you remind me of my cycling exploits in northern Norway when I was a lot younger ... 39 years younger to be precise. I remember well the endless daytime in Summer at those latitudes.

You can actually avoid the mosquitos pretty well by reading the terrain and vegetation before pitching the tent. There are much less mosquitos on windy open spots and dry sandy forests which you can find out there. Thick forest, flourishing underbrushes and spruce trees are a good indicator to avoid. Pine trees growing on dry land makes camping much more enjoyable.

Very nice cinematography of one of the most desolate places in Europe. It was interesting to see the beautiful scenery of northern Norway that very few cyclists ever visit 👏 The mosquito season in Lapland really begins around midsummer so you were on the safe side. The lake Inari is third largest in Finland. The biggest one is Lake Saimaa in southeast Finland. Looking forward to rest of your journey.

Hi Mikael, finally we see you again in one of your beautiful and courageous Nordic enterprises. Once again you show us history and landscapes that we didn't even know existed. In my little way I sent you that travel proposal you asked me for the fall. When you have time let me know if you're interested so that Cristina and I can organize ourselves. In the meantime we anxiously await the continuation of this new adventure of yours.

Just a quick clarification (and apologies for coming in so late): when Mike talks about "a couple miles" at 16:15 in this video, he is probably making a very common Scandinavian mistake and thinking "mil" which is 10 km but calling it "miles". At least, the distance he rides after that is a lot longer than "a couple miles".
