Today we're continuing our mission of stabilizing our finances and trying to turn a profit in Easthaven County, Massachusetts, after the Economy 2.0 patch resulted in a massive deficit and loss of a third of our cash reserves. This prompts some new big expansions to the county to increase the tax payer base, and we're kicking off with expansions to the oldest city in the county, Chowder Bay. This includes a rough crime-ridden neighborhood, uniquely nestled between train tracks and the port, a big sprawling 1960-70s suburb utilizing an easy asset-editor trick for increased housing variety, a suburban office park utilizing the all-new water surfaces, and last but not least a revamp of Downtown Chowder Bay with the addition of new parking, new buildings, and some custom "mid-rise" office towers I created in the asset editor. Hope you enjoy!

For the empty lot in the port, I think a unique (maybe another custom asset) modern mid-rise apartment building would work well with some custom outdoor areas to fill out the empty space, pergolas, benches, etc. Not the most exciting suggestion, but it offers good views and modern redevelopment around ports is pretty common. It could also help a bit with the residential demand.

Guys, if you want positive income you have to check your production tab. When your city is importing more goods (oil, cole, grain etc.) than its produces, your income will be negative. You have to use your resources on the map! For example: if you built the coal power plant when you start your city and you have no coal mining your city will import expensive coal and in most cases your income will negative in the thousands.

I finally love the game too, (took to long for this day) after the detailer patch from yesterday the game finally has (for now) a acceptable variety and overall the game feels now more completed. The game had a bad start but has now a base for future updates without needing extra updates ( for me) for basic gameplay (with mods). The game is now with the economy 2.0 patch more complicated, so you really thinking of what you’re doing/placing/… and it doesn’t feel like unlimited money mode for a much longer time. You now check the taxes for example if you didn’t before and the game is finally overall not behind Cities Skylines 1 ( for me ) They finally brought us the right updates and as we know variety will get bigger (region packs). So I hope that from now on the game really grows to a really big master peace and that they learned from their mistakes with the beach properties and San Francisco packs.

I quite enjoy your way of laying out new residential areas. Every zone has a unique look compared to square layouts. :) From what I saw in other playthroughs in Economy 2.0, you need lower taxes for commercial and industrial to encourage companies to move in and that will combat the extreme unemployment rate. When the unemployment rate drops to 5% or lower you'll see your budget on green most likely. Of course, you still need to fill the demand for commercial and offices (the latter demand was over the roof in your video) Adding more population won't solve your budget problem as it is now.

Suggestion for that empty lot by the harbor: I’m not even sure if this is a thing but right next to that new office building feels like there should be some sort of abandoned infrastructure from the old port. @infrastructurist very satisfying to watch you play when I cannot due to so many factors (mainly time, pc, and skill!). I was an avid sc4 player. To get even more from your videos, is it possible to request a higher priority to watching buildings be built in simulation timelapses? I am always so curious how your zoning/parking/other changes pan out but instead the video tends to skip to when it's already built which makes it harder to tell what changed. Thanks!

Maybe instead of a new city development a university district, similar to brown university in providence, could be really cool. Lots of examples of new england towns with universities as a integral part of the landscape. Don't know how it would work with economy 2.0 but something like a large main campus, sports fields, higher density student neighborhoods and a main street with shops and nightlife. There's probably a bunch of cool custom assets that could be used as well. could help with unemployment as well

Perhaps the developers of that office-mid-rise on the pier only got the permit under the circumstance that there was also a restaurant built at the end of the key - like one of those places that hasn't really got any soul or spirit on it's own, but it's kinda too big to fail. Like a TGI Friday's. Or Jensens Bofhus. People go because it has a good location, not because the food is good. And it would maybe serve as a lunch restaurant for the mid-rise and where scheming mobster-developers go to cook up more ways of scr*wing the city over on tax money.

Have you returned as many tiles as you can in order to reduce the tile upkeep cost? I found this to help the most to rebalance my finances. I had the entire map unlocked. One of the tile mods, 529 Tiles, I think, allows you to return all the tiles and them allow you to repurchase only the ones you need.

I love the videos and that empty lot should be a high rise hotel named after me because I could be some businessman who owns a hotel

The low rent housing blocks are set by the industrial area in a very "Workers and Resources: Soviet Republic" style. Can we get a statue to the glorious leader?

1:10:03 Sorry I hate that alley highway connection. Should have just been a dead end road. Would make way more sense.
