⁠@@nony690​​⁠ you usually end up having to clean the cuticle area up after curing the gel anyway, so saving cuticle clean up for after keeps you from having to repeat a step through the whole process. (At least that’s how I’m interpreting this) Edit: Guys obviously you should always clean up any gel you may get on your skin before curing- not what I stated at all. People are so quick to judge and assume ignorance sometimes. Please remember everyone has to start learning somewhere- application of any gel isn’t going to be perfect when you first start (and ppl are not perfect- we make mistakes sometimes)! Cleaning up the cuticle area keeps the manicure looking fresh, clean and is important to make it last longer.

Baby ease up on the cuticles because you’re cutting them down a little too far which is causing the red/inflamed look. And can lead to an infection. Other than that these are perfect

YESSS I was gonna comment something similar, like that's the only reason I've never gone to get my nails done more than twice, I'm a baby when it comes to pain and whatnot and it HURTS whenever they do the cuticles! Especially if they go too far/low!

But those fingers look great with a soft square. So I need to work on getting the nail to match my cuticle shape 🤔

Cuticles should not be removed. It's removing a natural barrier to protect from infections. They should only be pushed back. I think it looks dumb, too.

Her skin is red throughout the video. (It’s not swollen though.) She most likely had sensitive skin like me. It doesn’t mean that any of this was painful or that the poster is an unskilled nail tech. Neither is true. My skin turns red just putting on lotion. Takes ten seconds for it to dissipate. A dry manicure is not painful. I enjoy them immensely. I just warn my nail tech ahead of time that my skin is sensitive and I will tell them if it hurts.

Can you post a short on proper rpm for drills during different prep steps? I always use the slowest speed that feels safe but I might be struggling unnecessarily!

When I do cuticle prep and, pushing and opening the cuticle, I use between 5-7 rpm on soft nails with no rough edges and 7-10 rpm when the client's cuticle is rough and the skin surrounding the nail bed is also tougher

I disagree that the square looks batter however I think that the client’s preference trumps what I think. But usually from what I’ve experienced your cuticle shape is going to be the most flattering nail shape for your hand. Either way as long as the person wearing the design is happy then who cares what the design is? Unless they’re duck nails /s

Came out gorgeous- I’m struggling with learning to use the dual forms as well. I too have one client “victim” (my daughter who I said you want them done this is how we are doing for awhile- I’ve been letting her change shapes as often as she wants and I’m getting better.
