I remember walking around the shopping mall without anything to do, so I decided to check out what movie is showing. I saw Dredd poster and thought it looks silly af but still gave it a shot. Immediately changed my mind during the car chasing scene. Best decision I have ever made in my life.

Well, he wasn't really "waiting" for them to kill anything, he was just in pursuit for minor offenses. Then shit got really serious once they killed the civilian / "innocent". Dredd strictly playing by the rules.

@@youtubeviewer4472 oh, for sure. dredd's chief showing up at the crime scene at the end can't be a common thing, even for a rookie assessment. she specifically says she only came to check it out since dredd called in the 10-24. dredd is dredd so he minimized it at the end by saying "drug bust," but the mama clan was distributing drugs throughout the entire city, that's a massive empire. this was not at all a regular day. maybe not a one-in-a-million kinda thing, maybe closer to one-in-a-hundred, but still not standard.

If they were all Dredd kind of Judges, it wouldn't be that bad. The downside of Lawful Neutrals is that they can be kind of mean or hard sometimes. The upside is that they're fair and never overstep. A Lawful Neutral cop *will* pull you over if you went 66 in a 65 MPH zone. BUT, he *will* pull anyone (you, politician, billionaire, the president, it doesn't matter) over. Their gender, ethnicity, nationality, wealth, celebrity status are irrelevant. They will all get the same mandated ticket. He cannot be bribed, threatened or conned. He will *never* pull you over for going 64 in a 65.

The funny thing about Dredd is that that universe is possibly the least Dystopian Dystopia you'll ever see. The government has little-to-no actual control over anybody's lives. Judges are the *only* government forces left. City services are negligible. Even the Judges are spread so thin they rarely operate in groups. It's just a teeny step from MegaCityOne to Mad Max.

Yup, that's the good old M1. Interior shots of Peach Trees seems to have been shot in the Cape Town rail station. Hell, they almost could have used UJ for the interior shots of a block interior but I don't think they would have been too happy with all the pyrotechnics going off.

You got a wonder just how bad the violence in the city is, that when a Van driving erratically with people firing machine guns out the sides and back of it with a judge known for being Just as violent in return is chasing them, Doesn't even cause the Drivers of the other vehicles around them to go out of their way to stop. Move well out of the way, Or speed as fast they can to get away from that situation. Like this stuff happens to them on a daily basis and they're so used to it that it doesn't even register as a blip on the radar of being something that shouldn't happen......

They outright in the film state how many violent crimes get reported every day. "Twelve serious crimes reported every minute. 17,000 per day. - We can respond to around 6%." US at 350 million a violent crime is two a minute. Megacity One is 800 million so you can imagine how many crimes don't get reported because he Judges wouldn't show up.

At most the city would be civilly liable. The police are not criminally responsible for things criminals do to resist arrest. And tbh given the erratic driving under the influence of drugs you could well argue that they were likely to kill someone whether the judge was there or not.
