Tip on homemade almond milk: pour out the soaking water. I've been making my own for years and love it. No additives like the store stuff and SO much cheaper. I wanted to point out that you should pour out the soaking water, rinse the almonds, and add fresh water to the blender. Here's why: You soak the almonds to soften them and make a creamier milk. However, the soaking process ALSO pulls the phytic acid out of the almonds. Phytic acid is a compound that binds to minerals, so it can impair the absorption of nutrients such as iron, zinc, etc. Throwing that phytic acid soaking water out will also result in a sweeter, cleaner tasting almond milk. You can buy what is called nut or milk bags to filter/squeeze the almond pulp. They're usually cotton or hemp (so they're washable and reusable). They're designed to make alternative milks such as nut milks and coconut milk. Hope you guys have fun making almond milk from scratch. It's far superior. Give it a try!

And thanks to you I have begun making freezer meals. My mother is famous for her pickled onion dressing, which uses white or yellow onions. The trick is to let them steep in vinegar with salt for a few days, and then drain them and then add a vegetable oil to cover, along with plenty of black pepper. Toss a couple of tablespoons of the dressing in a salad or pour some over cooked green beans or asparagus. Yum!

Repainting always makes a huge difference in how your home feels! But it can definitely be a struggle to get done. I just finally picked a paint color after almost 5 years of decision paralysis, and I'm so excited to get to work on it now! Our entire main floor (minus the kids' bedrooms- repainted those right away with colors they chose) have been the most terrible shade of light pee yellow with dark brown accent walls since we first saw the house nearly 5 years ago. So excited for our house to feel fresh and bright!

I'm so excited about the garden challenge. I love your channel. You are such an inspiration. I am so glad I can be part of your challenge. I have sectioned off a 20ftx16ft area of my yard and am using (new) excess double walled plastic culvert pipe from our sod farm (so it didn't go to waste) cut off and filled with dirt/compost because our ground is about 85% sand and the other 15% clay. Not good for growing anything in. I already have seeds sprouting, some in the ground already, some in the seed starter greenhouses... (I'm in Florida so I been having some mid-upper 80° days off and on for 2 weeks now so I needed dirt therapy). Got solar lights put out there today. Had to start early because I'm having spinal surgery number 6 on March 18th... Told surgeon I need to be healed in time for garden season lol 🤞

I’m not gonna lie…you join me on the “hot mess express” made me honestly love this channel even more. Your realness is such a beautiful thing and I love that you don’t hide mistakes in the kitchen or just with life in general. Your so relatable and sweet! Thank you!
