The conditioner slip takes a while to work, works best as a co-wash and leave in. The curl cream is pretty bomb, light moisture. The gel is good, no stiffness or flaking.

Dear Curlypenny, my hair has never looked so good. I owe everything to you for helping me with my hair transformation. The under layer of my hair used to be curly/wavy and the top layer used to be straight. I brushed my hair every morning and my hair would be frizzy as fudge. So I recently came across your channel and decided to start my curl renewer journey so I watched many of your videos and got some new supplies for my hair that did not contain silicones or sulfates. I got Maui Moisture for shampoo and conditioner. Then for styling and defining I decided to get the not you mothers curling cream and gel. As soon as I was about to put the cream in my hair I glanced at the back and saw that it did contain silicone and a type of sulfate. I was shock to see this so I compared the ingredients on the bottle to this video and saw a major difference. Thankfully I saw the back before putting it on my hair and I notice that the gel was the only product that had ingredients that matched with the video. 😱😱

Giiiirl! The moment you said the massage thing, you made me think of when I had one. It was date night so I washed and styled my hair to. Had my curls looking bomb....lady not only did the scalp massage and had me cringing too but when she went to massage my neck and shoulders, she took my scrunchie off my wrist to put my hair up. Breathless Aroha Check out if your hair is low or high porosity, if you haven't. If you're low porosity, maybe there are proteins in these products that are not working so good.

Breathless Aroha Have you considered going to a professional for a consultation? My hair was miserable too. Garnier dye destroyed it along with me using protein in my hair. I stopped heat and dye 2 years ago and I basically cut my hair off and started fresh. My hair is so happy now but a good stylist could have saved me alot of misery and trial and error

Glad you brought up the hair loss. If others saw mine they’d probably think I was going bald. I have long very curly thick hair and oh my goodness just wait for postpartum hair loss. I had to keep reminding myself that’s what it was. I hated I had to straighten it for a while because if I didn’t it would start to dread and just took up more time then I had. With it straight I just wore it in two braids or a bun. That actually gave me less damage.

The Curl Cream is not curly method friendly, it has C13-14 ISOPARAFFIN, witch comes from mineral oil and petrolatum.

I’m not usually a fan of having protein in any products that I leave in my hair for long periods of time, but I love NYM so much and it’s so cheap that I might just have to give it a try.
