In this video, I'm going to share my 100% honest thoughts on the most recent Brawl Stars update. I'm going to talk about the things I liked in the update, as well as the things I didn't like. I'm also going to talk about Supercell's decision to not rework gears, as well as the community's response to it. Either way, I'm going to be 100% honest about my thoughts on the state of the game.

The game isn't hitting like it used too, in my opinion there isn't enough reason to HAVE to play a support or tank brawler. The roles should be more defined for the team based gameplay. Not to mention the last like 15 brawlers have all been DPS brawlers. I'd like to see some more tanks and support brawlers

yeah and stop adding so many counters to tanks and assassins.. with every new brawler comes a new counter to them in the form of a gadget or super.. like otis super, janet gadget + super, eve gadget, bonnie super, its getting ridiculous

Things that I wanted for BS to do: - Making midseason updates (usually a small/minor update that aims to balance, fix and sometimes add small additions - Fixing gears (at least make them less reliant, or balance them) - Adding a 5v5 mode (I wanted this mode so bad) - Add more Support and Tank brawlers (We had a lot of Damage Dealers, plus we need brawlers that just not counter certain brawlers like Mortis)

Yea I completely agree with the midseason updates. Since they extended the time for each season, it just seems too dang long for any new content. It is most often that people get bored or quit in the last week or 2 before a brawl talk is announced.

I say this update was summer of cosmetics. Because only new stuff we got for a summer update is cosmetic items. Tons of sprays, pins, profile icons, skins, new special pins, visual changes, and stuff other than penny there's not a lot of balance changes, only 1 brawler Otis: just another brawler that has a simple flat range which shoots 3 projectiles. and his super seems annoying against victims. he also seems like a boring brawler but hope i am wrong about that new game mode is super un-creative, boring and can make it's player rage. as for lore, i don't think they're adding lore again this summer. it will be a boring summer without lore, probably it will come in September or never. i get that they might not have ideas for lore stuff, but they are building hype with Starr park Easter eggs in videos and community posts. as for challenges, they have simple rewards like pins. not even skins anymore, it's not of a very interesting concept but still works i guess then we have club league improvement, if you want to call it one their purpose was to make club league less boring with club quests but no it made club league more time wasting and i don't think people have fun doing more quests. Before it was doing a couple of simple power league matches to complete your club league Day, now it's both club league games and doing hard quests like win 20/10 games bruh I'd suggest more improvements to quests since easier and more fun quests equal people to keep playing more. plus, the new mystery challenge, gamemode or whatever it is. it's an interesting concept but i don't think it has a lot of combinations, first of all it shouldn't include trophy winning/losing. then, it should randomize our brawlers, skins available (like a skin randomizer) and also our gadgets and star powers, so we won't know what we will play another bad side of the update is postal Brock. dude doesn't feel like a power league skin. it's more like a club league skin because it's so random. Also, it doesn't have anything to do with update theme, as every power league skin is related to the season's theme. I'm disappointed that colt and Brock, two brawlers that have lots of skins got another skin a little point, that every brawler that got remodels get a skin, i wish penny also got a skin along with remodel. another thing, frank said in twitter that they are not planning rework to gears for 2022 and beyond. like was that a joke? community is asking for gears rework since they are released. also i don't believe frank about that because whatever he said no to before, has become features of the game nowadays. (example: skin pins, exclusive bp skins coming back) i love cosmetics in updates but honestly just making an update full of cosmetics and not so game changing content is a bad idea. they even builded hype in the brawl talk thumbnail by implementing there will be lots of improvements. power league suggestions feature was good though, finally added. and another big issue is that map maker is in beta since amber update. last summer update was big enough with events like bad randoms and it made map maker a lot more entertaining, it also had the new wkbrl 7/24 going on.

listening to the community is fine but, honestly, this update is a 5/10 for me. Feels stagnant. I haven't had fun playing bs for a long time now. and Hunters is basically lone star but it's better because it ends faster 😂

- I haven't had fun playing bs for a long time now. Same here too, every time I play Brawl Stars, I just get frustrated and Brawl Stars feels stale at the moment. I even quitted the game recently due to frustration. I enjoyed the game for 7 months (started playing in November 2019), but ever since that 7 months, I started to enjoy the game less and less to the point where the game was borderline painful to play. My anger for this game is not in any way directed towards Supercell, I'm pointing out the scummy player base (but no matter how much Supercell fixes matchmaking or adds whatever, the toxic player base will always be very prevalent, so it's a mostly unsolvable issue). And yes, Hunters is basically Lone Star 2.0

Kairos, I love that in these 100% Honest Update Review videos, you always frame your feedback in a way that uplifts everyone, especially the developers . The criticism about Brawl Star's lackluster parts are always clearly laid out, but it never sounds like bashing when it comes from you. I imagine that when the developers watch these videos (I'm pretty sure they do), they'll be in the mood to improve Brawl Stars. I'm so glad that we have you in our Brawl Stars community and I feel that you have had an inmeasurably positive impact on this game.

I'll just say that to anyone who is unhappy with the game : Share. Your. Thoughts. Instead of bullying the devs or the community managers, describe your experience to them, show them what is wrong and unfun, what could be improved and maybe some ideas on how to do it. It's healthier and helps the game more than harassing them because this just might make them want to stop making the game you like.

I have been playing brawl stars since the Global Release, and even tho this is a good update and i like Otis a lot, it just didn't feel like an Update, i aways expect big things in these summer updates and basically all we got is 1 gamemode, 1 Brawler, Penny 2.0 and quality of life improvements, you see thats the content i expected for like a random monthly Update, not the summer update, known for being big, i really just wanted something new, even if it was like just a UI change, so at least it feels fresh and new, some new modifiers, updates to map maker, maybe the ability to add rules to a map, for example change the ammount of gems needed to start the count-down, or the count-down time, that would be cool, would be something to care about for the whole summer, insead we got a brawler than is cool, but its hype is not gonna last for long, a gamemode what is the coolest thing in the update and thats basically it, like they could add something like a daily reward to all players so they are at least invested on playing for a month or so

You really killed it with this video, Kairos. The most important thing to remember with Brawl Stars is that both the game and the community involvement are immaculate. I don’t like the way gears have gone either, but it’s incredibly commendable that each update includes at least like 3 quality of life updates that are so heavily requested by the community

My main issue is having to wait another 6 months for any change to gears. By that time I’m going to have invested so much more scrap and gold in maxing out brawlers for something that might change. I hope it’s not changed too much like resistance to vision gears as that’ll have just wasted another 6 months of progress

As someone who plays Brawl Stars since the beta, I must say that my interest is decreasing over time because of the lack of end game content. You are and have always been the voice of the community and the reason why everyone like you so much is your authenticity. One thing you did not cover much was the community based challenges which honestly was my favorite part of this update. Same, however I think they don't do these fun balance changes anymore because the update is near the monthly finals which is really sad. In my opinion balance changes are what really freshen up a game and make it really fun.

Like so on...this will add more depth, and make the gear choices more interesting, because building gears is just not worth for 3v3

I played since global release, got to 38k trophies, logged in every single day and have spent probably about 300€ on the game. This is the first time ever that i decided to quit. I had every single brawler unlocked and maxed before and now, even after 7 more months of progression, including club league, i still only have 10 out of like 50 brawlers maxed. It just feels like a slap in the face to have all your progress and invested money taken out of your hands. It's the Clash Royale lvl 14 update all over again. I kept playing and holding out hope, thinking that it would get better. With every update i lost more and more hope and the game started to feel more like a chore than a hobby, to the point where i stopped logging in and only ever played club league. The amount of grind that is needed to keep up is insane. You have to collect your 200 tokens per day, you have to complete daily and weekly quests, you have to grind the boring weekend events and play challenges, you have to play three map maker games per day, you have to play club league, you have to play power league, you have to push every brawler at least 1 trophy per season to not miss out on star points and you have to push every new brawler for hours to get them to ~600 trophies. I haven't even touched the last four brawlers that released, they're all still at 0 trophies, because it takes way to much time to push and upgrade them. The over-the-top monetization is another point that ruined this game. It feels like the game hasn't gotten any improvements in months, the only thing they are doing is mass-producing brawl passes and chromatic brawlers to sell more (hence also the shortened seasons) and they make chromatics intentionally broken to make people have to buy the pass if they want to be competitive. New brawlers are just not fun anymore, we have more than enough and all the recent brawlers just aren't innovative enough. At this point i'd prefer if they just stopped releasing brawlers all together so that i could at least progress my account. Franks tweet was the final nail in the coffin for me. The fact that they refuse to even acknowledge that gears and lvl 11 are a problem is disgusting. I used to be a proud player, i used to be so satisfied with the developers and i always brought up the brawl stars team as the perfect example of what a company needs to be like when talking about other games. I can no longer say that. Supercell, you lost a loyal customer. Even if i ever come back, i don't think i can support or spend money on this company anymore, unless some serious changes are made.

Honestly I don't mind them constantly making new brawlers, because the brawl pass pretty much gave us the stuff to max them, but now it feels like you won't get all the stuff to max the brawler if you buy the brawl pass. Also they do know about gears being a problem, they just aren't doing anything yet. Please watch the whole video.

Completely right about the lack of end game content plus when all my brawlers were set level 9 it did crush my heart a lot. I lost a lot of interest over time and gears definitely didn't help, quit for like 1 month only to come back recently to finish the season in a big push. Love your videos even when I wasn't playing the game. Edit: had a fully maxed out account when everything was set to level 9 shoutout to others that understand this pain.

They don't need to buff jessie, edgar is still pretty strong unless you're playing against like 700+ pros and nita kinda does but not every brawler has to be good for everything (also jessie and nita are supposed to be bad (not trash which is why jessie did get buffed before), that's why they're on the start of trophy road), also wdym solo modes suck?, There's literally only 2 (solo showdown and duels which isn't even in the game anymore) which are pretty fun (unless you mean there barely are any and then in which case you're right)

I thought this was one of the worst updates in a year or two, but it turns out to not be that bad at all. Actually, the devs have improved a lot that we asked for and I'm grateful about it. As someone who is big into the Club features I will say that this update was nice for that. However, balance changes felt like the bare minimum that I could reasonably expect (and even then, I still think Janet got off too easy and Bonnie should've probably been nerfed). Penny rework and Happy Surprise nerf saved the balance changes tbh Overall I feel like the update's disappointing but not as bad as some people make it out to be. 6/10

@@PancakemonsterFO4 Yeah, I guess part of it is that of the 3v3 modes, Bounty and Knockout are my most played so I may be biased towards wanting a Bonnie nerf because she's really good in those modes. I can see her being not worth using in modes like Heist and Brawl Ball, so maybe that balances her out. Maybe they could nerf her super charge rate to 5 shots and buff some of her base stats just to make her super less oppressive in Knockout while not killing her viability in other modes.

There's been something I've been experiencing that barely anyone else is talking about aside from the people I know and that's, the game freezing like every time I try to do multiple actions quickly simultaneously and this started when the update was implemented, or pre-update everything was running very smoothly. It really affects how difficult it is to play certain brawlers like stu, mortis and even colt when you want to use a super right after you released a strafe of bullets. I think the reason why barely anyone else is talking about this is because everyone else has better or higher end devices than mine and my friends' too. Basically, the update just made the game even more unfun than it already was before. Just wanted to get this out of my mind.

It really does make sense why Supercell is doing what they are doing. They can either rework gears using Kairos's idea (which he himself said might be flawed) or add something entirely new to the endgame like a trophy rework. Both have probably an equal chance to flop and while a new mechanic that isn't great isn't the best for players, it is the best thing for them, the content creators, and growing the game audience as a whole. Then gears can be comfortably addressed

Kairos just to let you know about the vision gear, but only some type maps have lot more bushes, then that what vision gear is for to see your opponent, so I recommend using vision gear for Pam, Lola, Poco, or whoever the brawler has the wide main attack

The thing with gears is the change of mindset rather than the extra progresion, every other supercell game always had this mindset of you will never have a fully maxed account and rather focus on what you have, BS is the only game where having a maxed account was reasonable. -CoC and Boom beach: play with strategies of your level -CR: focus on a few decks -If BS was "un-maxeable" from the start gears wouldn't have such repercusion.

For people who find it very hard to max out, you probably didn't have a max account before the update so yeah, you shouldn't be able to max out, that's the whole point of the progression system.

What disappointed me the most were the balance changes, to be honest. Remember when we got, like, 51 of them? Now all we get are basically some small tweaks here and there. And in this update we got almost nothing: brawlers that were trash in the previous meta (save for Penny) will be trash for the whole summer, and brawlers that were op will stay that way (save for Eve maybe).

The problem with not working on gears is that if whatever they are working on fails to deliver then allot more people will quit the game. However, I believe the biggest problem brawl stars is having at the moment is that it is requiring to much time from the players. What's the point of having short games that might last 1-2min when you are expected to play for at least an hour?

Idk what you're talking about since I just hop on for like 15mins to do my daily quests and maybe another like 10 minutes to do my club league matches so I never play for 1 hour. I only do when I have a lot of free time to do my other quests and push my brawlers one trophy before the season reset. Brawl stars is really not a game where you invest tons of time in to, at least for me as an endgame player.

I am by no means an endgame player, but I am no newbie either, and I can definitely agree with the comment you replied to because, as someone who's trying to get just 1 or 2 brawlers (the ones that came out with or after the new pass), and also trying to max out at least my favorite brawlers, it definitely makes you feel like you have to grind a lot, and I mean, A LOT to just get tiny bits of progress. It felt that way even when I saved my gems to buy the pass, and it feels worse now that I don't, and that feeling of not only doing the same everyday, but also having to do it for a way longer time that I would like just to feel that my account is progressing little by little, didn't seem worthy and is what made me quit the game.

@@Elhboy 1; Every season you need to earn at least 1 trophy for all brawlers (58 in total, this will only keep increasing). 2; Push every new brawler. 3; Cl 3 times a week (14 regular games or 7 power matches which takes longer). 4; Power league (win 60 games) 5; Daily guests, special quests, special event quests, season quests. 6; Tokens(max200) 7; (Etc) As someone who has hundreds of hours on the game I can say that there is just to much they expect us players to do.
