Hiiii * waves*. I go to R-ville a lot and I love your walk. I'll offer a few insights on your quick tour. 1.The first mentioned stone home is privately owned and not associated with the church. 2. The structure up on the hill is not the post office, but a health clinic and masonic lodge. 3. Most likely the dump truck was just parked there as there is a lot of road construction happening in the area. The church is alive and active. 4. Ronnie Milsaps is from there and his family still resides there. 5. The long stone building was many things to the town, but before it closed it was a retail store. Now, they are working hard to open it back up to share the history of the area. 6. Lynns IS the hotspot and there are many more restaurant gems. 7. That courthouse( as well as part of the street you're walking on)was made famous by the movie Nell. 8. Back behind the courthouse is a beautiful coffee shop called Kin. 9. I have 100 questions about that Santa scene myself. Haha 10. Those raised beds are part of the community garden. 11. That mural is new-ish to the town and a few descendants of the women depicted on the mural helped paint it. I believe only 1 of the women are still with us. 12. The stone and copper building was remodeled to become an art gallery but that fell through and a couple bought it and turned in to a motorcycle rental co. I hope that helped you to understand what a terrific tiny little place r-ville is. Happy travels.

Thank you so much. A local can tell the story of a town better than I ever could. The museum will definitely be on my list of places to visit when it opens. Also, Milsap is one of my favorites and I never knew he was from Robbinsville. That’s awesome👍

Robbinsville is an interesting place. I spent a few weekends there dog sitting in college and remember there being an ice cream shop with a full breakfast menu. I thought that was so strange but it was delicious. And there was an old gas station turned deli that catered to the motorcycle crowd with really good sandwiches. A lot of riders pass through there on their way to the Tail of the Dragon. There's also some cool stuff in Stecoah Valley back on the other side of the AT.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge of the area. Breakfast and ice cream sounds pretty good to me 🍦🥐

Oh how quickly things change. The ice cream/breakfast place has close and The Hub( deli you mentioned) has burned. The owners of the hub have now opened a successful food truck in the area.

@@thesterlingtree925 I hate to see places close. Hopefully something good will replace it. Thanks for sharing 👍

@@thesterlingtree925 that is terrible news! I hope the town recovers those losses soon. Glad the hub is still making sandwiches
@thesterlingtree925 Жыл бұрын
@benfarmer1940 Actually, since those losses, it appears the town has had an emerging energy. Beautiful coffee shop opened by a local, another local opened a great bakery, and several food trucks have energetic. It's lovely to witness.

That long stone building you are looking into at 2:38 was the store that Jodie Foster and Liam Neeson and Natasha Richardson went into as characters in the Movie "Nell." It was Nell's first exposure to the modern world. I have pictures of the cast and crew sitting around, waiting for the next take.
