The first vacation I ever remember going on was at White Lake. I was about 4 years old in 1975. I remember floating in a raft beside one of those piers.

I remember going as a young girl age 16..and they had a glass bottom boat you could ride...you looked down and could see the fish of the lake... the boat went slowly so you could enjoy this... me and my Dad loved this part of our visit ...

What a great memory to have with your dad. I don’t think the lake is as clear as it once was, so it’s awesome you got to see it that way.

White Lake, NC, is interesting, I guess you have to physically be there to truly see and appreciate the white lake. Timothy, you passed by a motel that resembled the Bates Motel on the movie Psycho. I hope it's not run by anyone with the name Norman Bates. 😂 I'm shocked that modular home/RV park isn't named "Miles-long White Fence Dwellings" or something like that. I've never been to any place that has miles and miles of a white fence completely enclosing a large area like that (including what appears to have been former entrances into the park from the roadway). I guess that falls under "There's a first time for everything." I enjoyed this walk/ride and talk tour of White Lake, NC, Timothy! GOD bless!

When I went as a kid, we'd always stay at Langston's. I saw they retired and closed a few years ago. My dad used to tell me that the lake was formed from a meteor. To a small kid, it was fascinating thinking that space created that lake (I know different now, lol).

Thank you for another great video! White Lake is a magical place that everyone should go to. Back in the mid and late 70s I was a teenage. My parents had a travel trailer and two of my friends each of their parents had ski boats. We'd take the travel trailer and ski boats to White Lake and spend a week at the time. Back then the rule was you couldn't start skiing until the lights went off on the water tower. We were usually the first one skiing as soon the lights went off. Thank you for bringing back many fond memories of being at White Lake! Your cousin in eastern NC, Mike

Back in the early 70's , we'd go there occasionally with my parents and other family members. And later in the 70's when I became a young teenager, our Sunday School class would go there once a year. It was a tradition we always looked forward to. It was a nice break for most of us, because we all worked in tobacco during the week. I remember there being lots of huge blueberry fields and peach orchards in the area. We'd stop otw and get some fresh peaches at a roadside stand and eat them when we got to the lake. It was a wonderful place back then, and left me with lots of great memories.

It was nice to see this again! I was here august 1970 at 9 years old. That lake was much more clear back then. Looks like a tourist trap today. $10 bucks just to park in the summer. Wow. No charge back then. Everything changes I guess!🎉

I thought the same thing. The lake was crystal clear in the 60’s More run off from human activity probably reaches the lake since there is less vegetation to filter it out.

@@TimothyFrench the whole lake is very shallow. Too shallow for diving off the pier in most places. I think years ago, they use to dig out an area at one of the piers so you could dive in without breaking your neck 😆 And if I'm not mistaken, some of the piers had covered areas at the end of the piers back in the 70's. Could be wrong, cause my memory ain't that sharp anymore.

The lake just about dried up at one time from what I heard. And it seemed to be clearer when I went there in the 60’s.
