I've watched videos of records being made a million times, but it never gets old to me man!

Although i'm strictly about streaming music, this is awesome.

The Master at work. The Best mastering engineer in the business in my opinion. It looks though that Bernie did not remaster it, it looks like he made a direct conversion to vinyl.

You probably didn't "see" him mastering it!

Bernie Grundman is a absolute legend.

So cool! I had to take out my copy of this record and check for the initials inscribed on it. They're there! I don't think I would have noticed were it not for this video. I can only imagine how time-consuming it must be to supervise the lathe for every pressing of the album. Or is there a shortcut when it comes to mass production? Also, having had it drilled in to me to never touch a record's grooves, it freaks me out to see the unfinished album being touched and moved around in such a way!

" it freaks me out to see the unfinished album being touched and moved around in such a way!" I am totally agree with you. That place looks like a kitchen. Should it be a dust free room ?

@@vinylcity1599 I don't doubt them at all! But it sure freaks me out as a casual vinyl listener haha
@leon90215 жыл бұрын
@@KeelyBurnMusic Usually the casual vinyl listener is pretty bad with their records. The enthusiasts are the ones who care. But yes, all pressing plants look and are likely quite dirty in some ways. Thats why many advocate for people to clean their records, even the new ones in case theres debris in the grooves. And you should take a look at more of youre records runouts. Almost any ones with initials like BG or KPG will sound amazing because they are mastered by some of the best in the business.
@KeelyBurnMusic5 жыл бұрын
@@leon9021 I certainly feel pretty casual with my 15-or-so records, compared to people I know who practically have a little record store in their own house lol. But good point, I like to think at least I take care of them. I always clean a record before I listen to it. I'll keep an eye out for those initials! I didn't know that anyone still did that until I saw this video, but I've seen older records with initials in the grooves.

Why can't you use the master as the stamper?
@ibrahimklc75619 ай бұрын
Because it's too soft to press records. You need a metal stamper to press hundreds of them.
@rabarebra2 жыл бұрын
Why do the records get bowl-warped? Happens way too often these days. I also wonder how the records can be stacked like that @10:49. This is why they have scratches, along with cardboard thick paper inner sleeves. Horrible.

That old man was geeking out over audio and that girls eyes were like, "woooooaah, okay" meanwhile I wish I was there so I could ask questions of what he was saying. This video was awesome, the content was solid.

'that girl' is one of the most accomplished bluegrass recording musicians, who's first nomination for a grammy was at 19 years of age.
@TheRamsberg5 жыл бұрын
"that girl" is an extraordinary musician who hired "that old man" to make the vinyl for her, because she's an audiophile and wanted the best. And she arranged to have this documentary made, that you just watched, because she has tremendous respect for the process.
@vinylcity15995 жыл бұрын
Have more respect! The "girl" is an accomplished musician and audiophile, and the "old man" is the top mastering engineer in the business, that mastered not only a lot of the record's you own, but CD'S and digital too! And they have names! It's not right anyway to call a woman "girl" and it certainly isn't right to call anyone "Oldman" or old lady"!
