A few decades ago, my nickname was Doc Holiday. I lived in Colorado for a short time in '91 and I got to go to Doc Holiday's saloon back then. Good Times 💯🤠👍

You're no daisy. You're no daisy at all. Poor soul. You were just too high strung. . Notice the change in verb? From 'are' to 'were'. "You are", "You are", "You were". :) Love this scene!

It's "i'm your huckle bearer". Meaning ill help carry your casket. For years i also thought it huckleberry.

Yes , l looked that up as well, correct! Listening closer you can clearly hear Bearer. Researching the meaning and language of the time it is accurate Thanks for your correction 💯👍

@@nicksterj All we can do is look it up, listen closely and try to get an accurate interpretation, I looked it up, that is what I found. I did find the use of Both words, they are used with different meanings. Just sharing what I found on Google, and listen closely to the movie clips, I clearly hear Huckle Bearer like how to properly pronounce the word "Bowie " I'm sure this discussion will have no end therfore I am staying with my corrected title and the way I hear it after close study. If I am wrong, so is Google and my bad hearing and it wouldn't be the first time 🤣 I'm now going to see if any other u tubers tried to settle this discussion. Thanks for watching and commenting, Cheers 🥂 👍

@nicksterj Was the handle on a casket a huckle in the early 1800s? A huckle is the handle on the casket and it's designed for the pall bearers to carry the casket into the funeral ceremony and then to the grave site. Coffins in the early 1800's were designed with the lids and nothing on the side and then over time it ...Jun 17, 2022

@@nicksterj Yes I agree with that, I just watched another u tube video on this, seems you are right it is Huckleberry in the movie. Strictly talking actual historical language of the time , the researchers I found are finding both slang phrases are used at the time. Interesting study, no question about it. 👍

Some audience members have misinterpreted the meaning of this line. Some of them heard “huckleberry” as “huckle bearer.” Since “huckle” was a term used for the handles on caskets in the 1800s, some viewers have misunderstood the phrase to mean that Doc will be Johnny’s pallbearer after he dies. This misinterpretation was so widespread that Kilmer corrected it in his own autobiography. Kilmer wrote, “I do not say, ‘I’m your huckle bearer.’ I say, ‘I’m your huckleberry,’ connotating, ‘I’m your man. You’ve met your match.’” It’s also possible to misinterpret the line as a reference to Tom Sawyer’s trusty sidekick, Huckleberry Finn.
