The tree is such a delight, I grinned like mad when I saw it. Just the thing for an adventure of the imagination. I instantly saw a little creature snatching up nuts beneath the tree, as an elf sitting on a high branch kept throwing them down. I thought to myself, is he trying to scare the creature away, by throwing nuts at it, or is it his friend and they are collecting nuts together? Of course we may never know because I only imagined it, didn't I?! I love making things like this, and am so glad you do too. I have made some little people, I call Gomberlings, and some smaller creatures. The latest of which is an Oakeyoon who has a house in a funky tree made from a pear tree offcut, and all kinds of woodland bits, and it turned out nicely. But I am rambling... I wish you all the fun and delights that a trip to Paris is sure to have, especially when shared with loved ones. May you not wear yourself to a frazzle. May the crowds be thin, your coat be thick, and the weather match the warmth of your heart. Your tablecloth is a triumph of thrift and frugallity, and brings back many fond memories of quilt making with my mom and grandma. Waste not want not, was their motto. Safe journeys, Marion. When my husband and I got married - 52 years ago - his grandma lovingly made us a scrappy king-sized patchwork bed quilt and curtains for our bedroom and a long patchwork skirt me. Handmade gifts are full of love and do enrich the maker, but hopefully are appreciated by the recipients. Have a wonderful time with Naomi in Paris. How much fun! I love the colors! Reminds me of two things: my grandma piecing scraps and the biblical history of Joseph’s coat of many colors(and how God goes before in the ordinary and extraordinary to order our days.) Are we not a tapestry of tangles and bits and pieces.😊 I sang in Paris with a US touring choir in 1970. It was part of a US choral good will tour to France, England, and the then USSR. I was 17 and remember watching the sun travel the mosaics of those beautiful windows from inside Notre Dame. Have a lovely time away. Your daily visits inspire.

Love the tablecloth, wonderful idea for using your 6” scrap blocks. I once had an antique “summer quilt”, it had no cotton batting/wadding in the middle. I was told it was called a summer quilt because of its lighter weight. Don’t know if that was true but it also was simply tied to keep the 2 layers from shifting. Love you to bits, Marion. The tablecloth is gorgeous and one of a kind. Just noticed the table legs, beautiful on their own but there couldn't be a better cloth to complement them. This is a project that I definitely want and will enjoy doing. Hope someone will get photos of the skies while you are away. If you are able to send 'hellos' from Paris, where will they appear? Luke is going to take a photograph of the sky every day for me. I'll record the day length and temperature in my diary and then I'll do a catch up when I'm home. I didn't want to take my actual painting with me in case it got creased in my bag. Look out for a post on the Community page Ann. I'm taking the Advent numbers with me and I'll post a photo and an update every day! They'll probably come up on your KZbin feed anyway I should think as the Community page is aimed at people who are subscribed... The table is a Laura Ashley thrift shop find! I left the top as it was and painted the legs all different colours... :)
