Don, you are over 60. This makes a difference. Time waits for no one, and i think it would help you not to jam back so much into your life. I recently turned 68 and every year has seen a physical and mental decline. Some people can keep up a super-busy lifestyle longer than others, and maybe you are in better shape than I was at 62 - but, still. There’s a reason why a lot of Americans take Social Security “early”, at age 62 - my father did - even if it means a smaller payout if you live a long time.

You are used to making the arrangements and they did it for you, so you didn’t have it in your head already like you normally would. Oh I loved my week in Montreal. Its ok to make mistakes, it happens, when we get older. Just make a detail list on your phone with notifications. Mark dates on your phone calendar with notifications. We have all done it. Myself now at almost 79 have to hang notes on coffee table, in the car, by the door etc lol. Happy travels. I wish I could have traveled more internationaly, but enjoyed my trip to Iceland, and Canada coast to coast. Drove from above WA to Vancouver, and then home in Seattle. Memorable trip, over 50 years ago.

I missed this one and had requested hotel and room tours if possible...very nice! You will get it fixed and moved at end and hope since this is luxury hotel travel you will sleep better and better...those flights are killers that cramped and your inbetween time got shortened

I’ve done it as well Don. Got confused with time changes and booked transfers for the wrong day going home. Fortunately I realised in time and was able to change it. I’ve always found Airlines and hotels in Asia to be excellent!

I understand those moments of self-frustration, as I've had them too, though I suppose you discovered it now rather than the day you got back to Canada! That hotel room is very nice, though I don't understand the recent popularity of using glass as the walls for bathrooms -- not much privacy, especially if you have a roommate, and remember to draw those room curtains when you use the bathroom!

I flew to Japan every other weekend for 4 years. I used to leave Narita Monday night at 9 pm. I would arrive in Anchorage at 9 am Monday morning. I don't wish for those days anymore at 69 years old.

A sign you are trying to do too much. Slow it down a bit. Take a travelling break for a week or 2. After a trip I feel tired and the getting to and getting home is the worst part even if it goes smoothly. Can be a nightmare if you have problems as I know you understand. Anyways it all is a lot of wear and tear and you get to feel it a lot especially as you get older. You gotta give yourself a bit of a break. I’m exhausted watching you.

Hopefully you booked directly with the hotel and not a 3rd party. It is easier to change a reservation with the hotel, especially if you have loyalty to them. You may still be able to change your rail ticket as well. Otherwise if you not able to change rail and hotel, you may need to be extra days in Montreal, you could get some rest then! My husband travels with a client from New Zealand, and I have had to make hotel changes for their travel nearly last minute(like the night before)and some hotels will accommodate the date change without extra cost. The sooner you do it, the better your chances of it happening.

Don, I’m the one who always makes the hotel and flights for our trips. One year, a couple days before the end of our trip, we could give the ship our travel information and they would check us in and get us our shuttle orders for getting to the airport. Well, I turned our info over and got a message that I’d given them the wrong flights. Here I had booked our flights for the day before we were to arrive back to home port! That was a costly trip! We couldn’t get our money back for the wrong flights but we did get a flight home on the correct day on a different airline. We now both check to make sure I’ve booked correctly!

I did a similar date/time type mis-step not long ago when booking multiple hotels and Airbnbs for one stay away. I caught it in time to fix the dates, but I STILL can't understand how I made the error! I think it was the overnight date thing. It can catch you off pretty easily.

What’s is it with bathrooms that have a shower or tub that you can see from the bedroom area? This summer, we stayed in a hotel for one night before traveling to Portugal. No blinds or any covering, just glass between my side of the bed and the shower. Then in Portuguese, one of our hotels, had half window- but with a shade you could lower- and a desk on the bedroom side and shower on the other side of the desk. What’s happened to privacy? Am I that old and prudish?
