I Made A Calculator Out Of Minesweeper

Basically what the title says. I made an addition calculator out of minesweeper that calculates by directing the player to an answer depending on their starting positions (their input). This works by making logic gates in minesweeper.

Code Bullet is definitely too much of a tryhard for me tbh. Most of his jokes don't even land. I like these chill videos more, where there's still some jokes and memes thrown in, but it's not the main focus of the video (so basically just a normal yt video lmao).

Ah, this made me remember several papers I read years ago about NP completeness and minesweeper. They also had examples of wires and logic gates in their constructions, and even a mathematical description of a turing machine in minesweeper.

Good video, but some constructive criticism: I didn't feel like i really understood what you were doing a lot of the time. For example, at 2:03 the wire design just sort of appeared, and because i dont have to indepth an understanding of minesweeper why the wire works doesnt really make sense. You could instead do something as simple as explaining that with the 3 on each side of the mine, there must be a row of mines in between, which can then cascade down. This is even more obvious with the or gate at 2:51 - why the gate works and how it works is not at all obvious even with pausing the video and trying to decipher it. It would also help if you had explained where the inputs are - to show this you could for example have set up a game with just the or gate, then stepped through inputting in each side and showing how you input values and how the values are moved along to the end of the or gate. Compare what you have done to code bullets similarish video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2LIYYdtoaZ4grM) at 1:45 - 3:20. Its really obvious then what the gates are doing and how they work just from the visuals, but in your video all I could really get was some random mines on the screen. Again - this is especially important for a game like minesweeper where what an input is and an output is arent as clear, with marbles its pretty obvious; 2 channels for each input, a marble in a channel is a one and no marble is a 0, then the output to that is the same. The viewer will have a much better understanding of what is going on even without any extra explanation, and code bullet still goes through and explains it in detail, so when in your video you have a more complicated system which you explain less it becomes very difficult for the viewer to keep up. Again - its a solid video and I hope you keep making them, but its important to bear in mind that when you have spent a lot of time on a project the basic things obvious to you will not be obvious to the viewer (xkcd.com/2501/).

You are 100% correct, explanations are what I have to work on the most, I'm having a hard time balancing brevity with understandability, and if I have to chose one I prefer brevity because it's also faster to edit, something that is already taking longer than actually making the projects.
