Kirstin mostly wrote it, which is why she has the lead. They wanted the songs in the Lucky ones to be more personal and usually the one whose story is being told gets to tell it. For example, Kirstin also has the lead in Exit Signs and It’s Different Now, whereas Mitch does Never Gonna Cry Again. It really is very Enya inspired with plenty of layers. Also visually stunning.

It’s a damn shame that they don’t get more radio play. This song is a perfect example of why they should. Hopefully their new label (anyone know who it is?) will work on that. Yes this song has layers, but it’s still all them.

If I am correct, their contract with RCA expired in April or May of this year (?), and they were being managed by YM&U in the interim. Not sure if they've signed another contract yet. If someone else knows, I am interested as well.

I love seeing you happy, Barry! ☘️ It’s infectious. This reaction was a pleasant surprise today. It was like opening a little present. 🎁 And yes, like you and others, I definitely heard the Enya vibes. Easy to forget there are no instruments. This was a very different sound from their other songs. I really liked it, upbeat, catchy, and beautiful all at the same time. I loved the sound of Kevin’s clapping. It took me straight to the sound of the clapping in hambone. I like the message of the lyrics as well. So true, sometimes when joy is a stranger and we are too much in our heads, we do need to see through someone else’s eyes. It is during those times when it is the hardest to lean on others. People have an amazing capacity for empathy, a shared humanity. I am so thankful for those who are willing to be there when we can’t see so well ourselves.

I believe if someone writes and sings a song that people can’t help but sing along or dance to it, the song is a success. Songs can make you cry with happiness or sadness or make you feel all kinds of emotions. That’s great too. But a song that brings joy and energy so that you want to get involved with the sounds - that’s success! You are our joy meter. When you just have to sing or dance, we feel the joy too. When you get weepy eyes, we feel permission to get emotional too. After all, you are the expert we watch and trust. 🥰 One question. What mistake? I missed it. 🥴🤷♀️
@ItsmeBarry2 жыл бұрын
Very well said Jan and thank you for your kind words about my reactions. KZbin gives creators little bits of info about how a video is performing and things we can do to try help it perform better. The thumbnail and title needed to be updated to try and get more clicks. I had an embarrassing blooper in the middle of this video. I couldn’t remember one of my catchphrases “without any further ado, here’s the review" Usually I’d edit out any mistakes like that but I decided to leave that one in and that’s my “huge mistake” hopefully the change in title will get a few more viewers and they can hear this lovely song.

Barry, you've been remiss in not reacting to any of Avi Kaplan's solo work. While his 2019 "Change on the Rise" is a good starting point, I might recommend one or more cuts from his recently released 11-song, all-original album "Floating on a Dream". There's the official video for "I'm Only Getting Started", but for something that will show the beauty of his voice, as well as the lyrics of this original, I recommend you react to "All Is Well", the 7 Layers Sessions video that was shot in a church in Utrecht, Netherlands during his recent European tour. The acoustics of the church enhance his resonance.
@vbella392 жыл бұрын
His 7 Layers solo version is my favorite of that song! Such a beautiful setting, acoustic, and him singing alone. I am hoping he will do that version like he has done some of his others acousticly also. I tell that to Cierra every night when we come home and I'm having to dodge deer. "Be my eyes, Cierra!" I need to go get my eyes checked, as much as I hate it, reading glasses only work when you're reading or looking at something close, not for looking for deer. The other night, I swore I was seeing things. Suddenly I see a huge buck fly across the road in front of me. The weirdest thing. I swear it didn't touch the road. The best way for me to describe it was, it was like a ghost of a deer, w/shadows, and light streaming from him as he quickly appeared and disappeared. I thought I'd lost my mind. But, thankfully, Cierra told me, "Mom, it was a big buck and it was real... You need glasses." 😜

8.- One day I found a broken cherry tree branch on the ground. How beautiful is the wood of the cherry trees! It had been torn by the wind, I was sorry to see it there. For a moment I thought that maybe I could put it back in its place and I climbed up the tree (that was also very usual: climbing anything I could fall from, and the higher, the better). I tried, I thought of all the ways to do it (with nails? with adhesive tape? glue?... some more, sure) but... no. Well, things happen for a reason. Sitting under that cherry tree, with the branch in my hands, I looked at it very carefully... There it was! Of course! It was my horse! It was only necessary to tie a few frayed ropes, put on some reins, and the cowboy already had a bow, arrows and his horse. We galloped hard for days, the branch stopped being a branch and became a Pinto horse; we learned how to shoot moving arrows (just shooting… hitting something running went from almost impossible to surreal)… And something had to happen, and it did.

Ana this is a wonderful story. I hope you are writing this down on paper somewhere. I love the words you use. I climbed trees too. I still do occasionally, but now I have tree climbing equipment. 😃There is something ethereal about being up in a tree. Looking at your world through the eyes of the leaves. Back on the ground you feel like you want to keep that perspective with you. You feel like you have experienced something special. It is just so sweet that you wanted to put the branch back. Imagination in the heart of a child can turn the most banal into something magical. Wonderful! I like the perspective that the story is written from. ❤️👍😃
