I Made a Main Character for my Indie Game | Devlog #8

Loving seeing your progress. For the 'character follow' button I had some ideas based on what I saw. 1. I wouldn't rotate the camera as it moves to the new position 2. I would have it lock onto the character until they move away 3. It would be cool to have a 'pinned' characters on the UI so you could see your favorite characters, what they're doing, some other stats without having to click on their house. And if you clicked on their portrait, you would go into the follow view as well. Another idea for the npc miners, what if it was based on how much gold you've found. So they wouldn't come into the town until there was proven gold reserves, which would encourage the player to search for gold/ore? Just watching your journey gives me ideas for your game haha. I'm working on my first game so I love seeing other game devlogs to see the progress other folks are making

You have a lot of great ideas!! You mentioned level ups but it would be cool to see more level ups/abilities. I always liked games where that's the backbone of games. Keep it up!

Really enjoying watching this devlog I've got the game wishlist from last video 😊 can't wait to play it I'm loving how the miners are coming along, one idea for which resources they gather maybe have it based on level with different level increasing which level of mining they can do for example the level 1 tent can only pan in the rivers finding less ore level 2 could mine the rocks around the map and level 3 could blow up the caves could maybe implement a lumber jack later down the line aswell. That being said your doing amazing work and I'm so exited to play striking gold 😊

By the way, I run my own arcade in the place where I work, a live music venue. It is very cool to see the reactions of the guests. It's great for finetuning my game, a pong rogue-like, because I can directly see where people have trouble with understanding aspects of my game. Why not have different tents for different jobs? Like a tent for Panners, a tent for Loggers, and a tent for Miners? So the characters actually look different. I feel like that would be a more recognisable user experience, instead of micro managing each tent.

It's really getting better.... Still feels kinda... How do I put this? Vanila. Like it looks good, plays better... But it's just city buider so far, no spice. What I would recomend is a railroad so you can have more mineing towns.. And sell your goods across other towns. That could be really fun and fit good into the whole wild west theme
