Me and a bandmate have converted part of his house into a budget studio space that we're going to use to help out local bands on a budget. Your channel is a big inspiration for us, and I personally dig everything you're doing!

When my studio was forced to close down because the owner of the building informed me he was "selling the place" ON THANKSGIVING... ( STILL NOT FOR SALE / sitting vacant ) I put all of my gear in cases and went guerrilla for awhile. My studio became a "Mobile Studio" - recording clients in their most comfortable space - where they practice. THEIR SPACE. I found I was able to get far better performances because of this. It was a FANTASTIC period of time. I was fully booked... then covid hit... and no one wanted someone coming into their home. Since then... Business has plummeted, and its been mostly online gigs. Now I'm in a factory... and this is a spare time kinda thing... Anyway... I enjoy this content immensely. I can relate in ways. Robot dog drums is easily the best drum library I've ever used, and its great to see you moving on with your head up - taking it in stride. Keep the content coming Ryan!

Thank you so much for sharing. And I'm so glad you're loving RDD, too! We've got a lot in common and there's no shame in taking a "real job" to make ends meet. You'll get back to your passion in good time. Right now I'm getting back to building my home studio and throwing all my energy into that. Hope to share some updates soon!

Glad to see this. I'm building my first studio. Do you feel like the sound quality out of the board is on par with what you'd get with a decent interface? I wasn't sure how the mic pres would be in one of those - just curious to hear your thoughts.
@RobotDogStudioАй бұрын
Yes, I actually own an Apogee Symphony mkii and there is essentially no difference in sound quality to my ears. The mic pres sound clean and have lots of headroom. I think the mackie is a great option to get 16+ inputs going in any studio.
@ryanschumann45298 ай бұрын
Awesome video, I guess my biggest question would be how bleed from the wedges and loud amps play into your mixing process. Especially with the vocal mics
@RobotDogStudio8 ай бұрын
Thanks! That's the right question to ask! However, you might be surprised about the bleed. There is almost no bleed in the tracks EXCEPT for the drums and cymbals which are extremely loud in the vocal mics. It's even worse here where there are three singers. The key to mixing it is you 100% have to mix the vocals first and incorporate that bleed into your mix. It becomes the room sound for the drums. You've just got to embrace it! Or just overdub a new vocal track if you're recording more of an "album" project and not a down and dirty live thing.
@ryanschumann45298 ай бұрын
@@RobotDogStudio that was my thought process too. I do that exact thing a lot in live mixing. Especially small rooms and stages. I’ll have my vocal mics turned out before I start sound check with the drums. Can’t wait to try this out in a studio scenario. Thanks again!

Hey! A love those RGB washlights that you have there but can't find anything like them, do you remember exactly what they were called by any chance? And btw I absolutely love this studio man. As mentioned, all of that natrual light, the 'vibe' of the bright brick walls, I just absolutely love it. Defentelly ganing some insperation here for my own studio!

Great space! What was the solution for the bass amp radio? I’ve never seen that before, where radio was coming through with it switched off!
@RobotDogStudio6 ай бұрын
Thanks! It was only audible cause the DI out was patched into the mixer/computer with monitoring on. Total non-issue when the amp is on. But some older amps have had the same problem in the space… just had to mute them between takes. Newer / better shielded amps have not been a problem.
Very fun looking, I can say from similar experiences, that music production has been a fun ride since I decided to build my own. As the equipment keeps evolving, the journey continues. Happy creating everyone. 😃😁💻🎹🎛🎛🎚🎚🎚🎛🎛🎛🎧🎧🎤
