One of my biggest concerns when kitbashing or modifying something is that I'm going to regret making a bad cut. You did a great job making everything fit together even though you found there could have been a "better" way to do it! Wonderful job!
@DRToysCreations Жыл бұрын
That's the beauty of doing this, if you do make a bad cut just figure out a new solution. 😄

This is a great build! Gotta love it when things fit together with ease My two cents for this build specifically would be that i honestly feel like if you found a way to add (parts of) the samurai helmet to the Mando helmet it would've made it especially perfect as the mando helmet on it's own kind of looks too clean or maybe even a bit bland compared to the ridges and shapes that the shoulder pads and leg armor added to the entire silhouette.
@DRToysCreations Жыл бұрын
I agree 100%. So I actually cut that from my video... I spent about 45 min cutting the face off and trimming and sanding out the helmet and the fit just wasn't right. I looked around in my bits box to see if I had anything and the closest I came was a Gundam head piece but it wasn't quite right either. I'll be keeping an eye out for that perfect piece and will add it on when I find it. 😀 Thanks

To expand on the hot glue technique (as it is one I often use for one-off customs like this) if you care to hear it: I like to coat the joint with vegetable oil (just a thin coat with a cheap paint brush) to ensure that the hot glue won't bond to it and that it will be able to rotate freely. For a really strong connection, use a screw as the joint with which to place in the hot glue socket. Any screw with a head will do, but my favorite type of screws to use (at least for smaller figures) are the metal ball head screws that are typically used for RC cars. They're shaped almost exactly like old school action figure joints and can even be removable if you want the custom to have modular parts! Just be sure to use something really strong to make sure the joint doesn't go anywhere, I recommend steel reinforced plumber's epoxy putty (it's like $5-6 a tube and it's well worth it).

@DRToysCreations Жыл бұрын
I normally do but because the brown was so close in color I didn’t. I put a clear coat over everything at the end which protects it from scratching off. Plus it just sits on in a display shelf.

@DRToysCreations11 ай бұрын
The silver is a oil/wax based paint and it stick really well to the softer material. I also did a clear coat at the end that sealed it all. It's just sitting on my display shelf and doesn't get handled much. But I hear ya, most of the time I will do a prime coat but for this one most of the color was already there.
