I made a Turn-Based Tabletop Game in Halo.

For those wondering (you probably weren't) there are roughly 1,400 scripting nodes making this experience possible. A lot is going on behind the scenes that wasn't really worth mentioning (as you'll find out yourself) such as A.I. injuries and health regeneration, falling off the table transitions, how I worked around overhangs and nooks while using Pawn Prop pathing, how I ensured your markers wouldn't get merged into objects ultimately squishing your characters, and so on. The amount of work you put into things like solving pathing issues, preventing griefing, and adding immersive elements is what really makes this incredible. I recognize that it's "experimental", but what you've released is polished as hell.

I had core game mechanics completed by Nov. 10th. Since then, it's all been designing and testing systems that I barely touch on or don't even mention in this video because it'd make the video hours long! It's a simple game, but I just had a 1v1 with a random I found in the CGB that lasted 50 minutes and I think by the end he understood strats better than me lmao

@@RedNomster Seriously, Buckling isn't embellishing at all, most first party devs don't even have this polished of gamemodes on launch these days, which obviously they typically have a lot *more* testing to do to get the game functioning at all in the first place, but still, this is a huge project and we're all here for it!

a fantastic tabletop experience... have already played several matchess with extended kin with two great rolls I had discovered, then used, Cortanaa to destroy the enemy's great computer citadel. Thousands would die on either side, but my Chief, who put the Master in the name itself, stood Tall and would not Fall Good Job RedMonster (whose name reminds the ancient mind of the infamous Major Elites)

Many people have said it in different ways already... but I'm in total awe at the amount of time and effort that has gone into this. Every time you show off a new feature it's topped only moments later by something just as cool! I seriously can't imagine even beginning to create something like this. I'm over here happy to apply my 'coding skills' to Halo's node editor and then see what you've done and feel like an absolute newbie again lol. I cannot wait to try this out for myself with some friends. It's also very neat to see how you achieve some of this using the node editor, such as the 'pawn' movement style.

Thanks Austin! I actually don't have any traditional coding skills, but I've spent a lot of time with Minecraft commands so node graphs are ez in comparison haha. Hardest part are the limitations and finding workarounds. But I try to make the best map I can make each time, and seldom does that not involve Halo's full toolkit (building AND scripting). I also have no traditional art skills. I'm the definition of "if I can do it so can you" 😅 just requires passion and some practice

I've already updated it multiple times! Improved pathfinding, updating target selection, and added a handful of anti-griefing systems like not being able to punch or nudge enemy AI while the tabletop is idle :) more to come, and more maps!
