I made a Working TARDIS in Minecraft

In this Mumbo Minecraft redstone video, Mumbo builds a working Dr. Who TARDIS in Minecraft! The T.A.R.D.I.S is famous for being bigger on the inside, and travelling through time. This Minecraft redstone build does both of those things successfully! Making use of the Immersive Portals Minecraft mod, which allows you to have portals between the nether and the overworld that are completely seamless, a fully functioning Minecraft TARDIS has been created.

For anyone wondering how the whole portal thing works: basically the mod creates cameras on where the portal is created both in the overworld and the nether. Instead of having the normal portal texture, the mod replaces it with the texture generated by the camera. This view is updated every frame for it to look like what it should. the camera moves according to the player's sight making it look like the portal is actually a seamless view into another dimension. I used this principle to create portals in the video game im creating and it's causing a little lag depending on the areas and the details but it works wonders. this is also how valve portals work (from the game portal)

I love this mod, been using it and being able to just walk to the nether is so much quality of life. The only thing I wish it handled better was minecarts but lets be honest - Minecraft doesn't handle them particularly well to begin with. You don't even need to load the nether with this mod btw, to get your desired effect. There's a creative item that lets you build portals between two of them and they don't need to be across dimensions. I made a cube with the tops and bottoms, and each opposing side, connected portals, from the outside it looks like a cube with a volume of 125 cubic meters but no thickness, no width, and no height, and from the inside it looks like you're trapped inside a tesseract haha. It handles minecarts much better than the nether portals as well as you'd imagine in minecraft.

For your future convenience when replacing blocks, I've found that in creative mode if you press the right and left mouse key at the same time it replaces the target block perfectly regardless of whether or not there is a block behind it. I don't know if that's an intentional game design but it quite a handy trick.

Im a doctor who fan and i have to say that looks really nice :D Edit: You can use portal helper blocks in order to create portals that dont travel to the nether. So for example, you can make your tardis in the overworld (all of it!). It also removes the need of keeping the obsidian

Well, yes, and no - the big problem with the Dalek Mod right now is that even with the BOTI effect, it's not nearly as seamless as this. It still requires you to load in the world once you go through, and the lighting and entities and stuff are still slightly messed up until you go inside.
