Salim, I’ve just discovered your channel. I’m in my late 50s, a part time administrator. I’ve always wanted to read faster and make more time for me without feeling guilty about chasing round with household chores etc. I’m going to start with your first video and eventually work through all of them. This is the first - I’m listening, whilst ironing 😆. Thank you for the clear and useful info, without the waffle ❤

dude! that's such a good and concise summary of Ali's techniques. I loved how you implemented gym philosophies into productivity. Like the Progressive Overload Pomodoro made so much sense to me! Great Job, you earned a subscriber. 👍🏼 Ps: dude, btw did you checked out Ali's new book? xD
@Salim_Ahmed Жыл бұрын
Thank you, I'm v glad that you found it useful and I hope this way of studying can help you too! I just think using approaches that work for one thing can definitely be adapted to other things, as in the case of this progressive overload method. And yep, I've preordered his book, and I'll definitely read it as soon as it arrives haha
@tsai_hernan Жыл бұрын
@@Salim_Ahmed That's great, man! thx for replying! I gotta say tho, I got a bit confused in the part where you explained Parkison's Law. I mean, not that it's badly explained (I think you made it pretty clear what it means), but like how do you apply both the "prog. overload Pomodoro" and the Parkinson's law? or like, how do you manage that when you set a time for a task but in reality took more than that?
@Salim_Ahmed Жыл бұрын
Thank you for commenting and engaging, it genuinely means a lot to me :) And hahaha i definitely could have explained better, it was definitely a bit rushed here! So as an example of how I've done it - Initially with the prog overload, I might have done let's say 50mins studying + 5min break. And initially I might have given myself a target of doing 40Qs in the 50mins studying session to apply some pressure considering Parkinson's Law. Suppose i took more than the time i set for the task (so more than 50 mins to do 40Qs), then I might have dialled it back a bit until I became used to doing that intensity (so dial back to maybe 30Qs, then up slowly). Once I became used to that intensity, I could then aim for doing 80Qs in 100 mins (so same intensity of Q per minute) with only a 5 minute break. Or, I could try to increase the number of Qs (therefore appling Parkinson's Law again) with the same time duration - so 50Qs in 50min study session. I think it's just about playing around with it all and making adjustments in both prog overload and Parkinson's Law, either one at a time, or at the same time, to make improvements in how much you can handle - and it can always be minor changes and not anything drastic, as the small improvements do compound over time! I hope this cleared it up a little bit, but if it didn't feel free to ask more here / email me as well!!
