Makes it easier for someone to hit you, he was using vengeance spell combined with his own spec to kill his opponents. Vengeance reflects 70% of the damage done to you, to your opponent. So if you take off your armor they are more likely to hit and thus more likely to take more damage in a stack with your spec weapon
