So I made all damage completely random in Minecraft, which basically means you can get infinite damage against mobs.

This could be a really fun and challenging mod to play around with if you just tweak it a bit. Maybe manually set the odds of being damaged a certain percentage? Then have the game randomly choose between those options.

If you make the chance more of a ramp, instead of linear, it may help with fairness. Not sure how to describe it, but, closer it gets to one shot the rarer it is, and stuff like 5-25 would be more common

Technically any number above 20 should 1 hit you, meaning anything from 20-infinity is the death area. (LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO SURVIVE A HIT STATISTICALLY) meaning you either are the most lucky/unlucky human being in the world, or theres a limit (which there must be)

I think I know what you did wrong with your mod. If you're random number selector is between .5 and infinity your chance of getting any number higher than the health of the dragon is extremely common. The fact that you took any damage and didn't die is rare. You'd need to set the parameters to be from half a heart and the dragons health, that way the chances of getting insta kill is way less.

so the reason hes getting one hit is bc the higher he set the max damage on the randomization he probably set it really high so your character can only take 20 damage so then it being maxed at 100 would make it a 20% survival chance and he probably set it alot higher

I think it's so common that you get 1-shot everytime is because you put the random damage percentage WAY above 100%, increasing the odds if dealing damage equal to or higher than your current health

Hey! I think i know why you keep getting one shotted. You might have set the damage randomizer between 0 and 1000. In which case, the chances of you getting below 10 hearts of damage are pretty low.

I think it was that random damage had a huuuuge range (enough to 1-shot the ender dragon) so it was way more likely to deal huge amounts of damage rather than small amounts. Instead the range should equal the max health of the entity getting damaged, which would help even out the odds of getting x amount of damage and make insta-death a 1/20 rather than a seeming 99/100

The reason a arrow deflected off you just because you punched an arrow mid-air. Because of the fact that arrows are entities and entities no matter how they're meant to be always has hp. So you did enough damage within one punch to instantly kill something that was never meant to be killed

You probably made the max damage much higher than your max health, meaning a majority of the time it's going to be above your health, ak most shots kill everything. It's less random and more of a slight chance of survival

Because of how numbers work theres a higher chance of being one shot than not being one shot So theres more numbers above 100 than there is below 100(for %) The most thus far I've seen him die in one hit is 10 times over, so 1000% About 900 of those numbers are one shots as about 100 arent(it would be 901 and 99 but this is more simple) So it's a 9/10 chance of being one shot IF we say 1000% health in one hit is the max But it probably isnt So basically he was right about just not getting hit
