I love this. Maybe as a troll idea, hide in one of your friends' houses, and one by one, just add a random item to a chest or furnace, a useless item with no purpose, then take one item that is really important in exchange for giving them useless items. Like taking their emeralds, diamonds, and netherite stuff from chests, and for each item or stack, you replace it with the same amount of items, but useless or weak ones. Like replacing netherite armor on their stands with black dyed leather, emeralds with a stone button, diamonds with a wood button, netherite with a mud block, iron with andesite or diorite, and all the different kinds of wood they have in chests... With birch wood.

Here is a general idea. Imagine there is a thief on your world (we can call him Lynix), the very next time he steals something that item is replaced with a block of dirt. If he puts the item in a chest, the chest fills with dirt replacing all the items within. If he keeps the item in his inventory replace his items one by one with dirt. Then all the items of his house are replaced with dirt. The wood of his walls becomes dirt, the floor becomes dirt, everything becomes dirt till he ends with a house made of dirt, chests full of dirt, inventory full of dirt, and maybe a little hesitated to steal another item.
