I know a little of this feeling with my little sister's prom dress. While I didn't physically make her dress (I've only just started sewing), I designed it, and then my mom sent it to a seamstress. Hers was the most unique dress in the entire prom. Everyone lost their freaking minds about it. She tells me that her friends are still talking about it 6 months later. I cried so hard that day, she looked glorious.

The dress is beautiful don't get me wrong but usually the reaction doesn't quite go that way. I sew some of my own pieces. And the only person who had a slightly intrigued positive reaction was my aunt. My mom says: "hmmm... I don't get it. It's interesting but I don't get it." my brother flat out tells me it's useless since I can buy ready made clothes for cheap already and my dad sounds more like: "Hehe she's my daughter and she always liked to sew. What more can I say." I've worn my pieces outside and nobody asked me anything except one girl once came to me after saying I made the pants myself in the previous class (we were talking about where were our clothes made and of which material during our class of sustainability of products and processes. I study design at university). I just don't get why don't people ask me more about my amazing fits! I've made stunning simple dressed but nobody cares I made them!

@@nikitatavernitilitvynova Nevermind. People are so used to cheap "fast fashion" B$ they buy on stores like H&M and especially Primark. Nobody cares, gives a damn thing, because they don't respect and worship tailored quality fits anymore. And guess what - about >90-95% of all clothes came from countries like "Made in China", "made in bangladesh", "made in vietnam", "made in parkistan", made in whatever country, whereas people work hard under question-able conditions all day (!) for very little money, and average or substandard quality clothes. Because people like to buy the latest shitz, they're copykatz - looking whats in, hip or trendy. Fun fact: i never cared about all this B$ all my life - i always wear, what i do like, not what the creepshow is hot or not, i don't give a fck! Second i buy only quality clothes, and keep them into shape. I care for that stuff. I wear a jeans usually 5-10+ years, and if the color gets faded, i re-color it. If it gets damaged, i put it into the tailor shop to fix it, i can't sew anymore by myself. Have fun with your pieces, and don't care about the masses...you know, that silly lemmings thing..who cares. :-)

I love the dress. It’s beautiful, and I think like it really captures how prom feels. Cause I feel that way about all my artistic interests, but it's just not true, we're all "good enough" to pursue our passions and dreams (provided those dreams aren't to harm anyone or something like that but yeah).
