Although the Nintendo 64 console has in the minds of many been relegated to the era of 'firmly obsolete graphics', since its graphic processor's (GPU's) lineage traces directly to the best which SGI had to offer in the 1990s, it too supports a range of modern features, including dynamic shadows -🤓

Fun fact, Need For Speed was actually planned and being developed for N64 (called NFS 64), but got reworked into Beetle Adventure Racing

I hope footage of that pops up one day. BAR is a great game, but I'd rather have an N64 version of High Stakes.

You can absolutely tell it's made by the same people as NFS because it even had an aussie exclusive HSV version just like HP1998/HS!

Look for references from racing games on the N64. Car models had more detail than that, slightly anyways, and the N64 was capable of per-vertex dynamic lighting. Shadows were often done in a hacky way by just placing a transparent texture under things and having it always on the ground. Textures could be mip-mapped, and were often 32x32 and sometimes 64x64 in resolution, with texture filtering. Some levels on N64 games managed to be as high as 5,000 polygons. So good work overall, but you can push things a little further to get some N64 aesthetics out of it.

Pixelated textures need to be set as nearest neighbor for image interpolation, its blurry since its using the default lancoz or bilinear.
