The bubbles that pop up after sanding could be filled in using a quick setting super glue, the clear liquid kind, and then sanded again. So for the "darker" colors when you ink them, something I learned when I wanted to get into Plastdipping cars, they always start with a base coat of white, and that apparently helps the colors pop a bit more. I would really like to see another set of 3D printed dice, I was wondering if you could try making a drain hole on the dice so you could use the drain holes to save resin, and then you wouldn't need to Dremel the dice
@Rybonator4 жыл бұрын
Technically the molds from this one are made from 3d printed dice, if that helps? haha. So the problem is that when you put a hole in the 3d printed dice, you risk getting silicone inside the dice when making the mold, which is a no-no :/
@liamsmith85184 жыл бұрын
I was worried about the possibility, but I thought it would be a bit more economical for many, and I would think that you would be able to mostly seal it with super or hot-glue and if you positioned the dowel near the edge when you are opening the mold up with the knife you could slip in there and slice any silicone near the mold that would have slipped into the die, and the die inside seems like it would be Sacrificial no matter what, but you deffinetly seem like the professional so I won't question it further

Don't know if anyone's interested, but since I'm an art nerd, I thought I'd infodump a little about why you never want to blend the rainbow together without waiting between layers (unless your goal is the chaotic muddy brown/grey.) The reason the red/orange/yellow one worked fine without waiting is because those colors are analogous, meaning they're three colors that sit directly next to each other on the color wheel. To put it simply, they're right on the edge of being monochromatic, meaning they can blend with each other without looking muddy. On the other hand, throwing the entire rainbow into a mold and allowing it to blend doesn't work because of complimentary colors. These are colors that sit directly opposite each other on the color wheel (like red and green, yellow and purple, blue and orange, etc.) Unmixed, they work very well together because they compliment each other. But when blended, they _neutralize_ each other. When you mix red and green paint, for example, you end up with muddy grey. (It's the same reason why hair lightening kits come with "purple technology" so your hair doesn't become brassy; the purple is neutralizing the yellow.) And a rainbow contains every complimentary color combination there is. So when you throw all the colors together, you don't see a rainbow anymore, because the complimentary colors have all mixed. Again, not sure if this is interesting to anyone else, but I thought it would be fun to share! These dice are gorgeous.

These are beautiful! I wasn't a big fan of the blue ones at first but now I like them thanks to the inking! I love this rainbow set, it's very refreshing compared to the thousands other sets! Also, love the giant throw D20. I kinda want that as a weapon in game now.

woo! i've been suggesting layered dice on a few different videos, because i thought it would be a cool concept, and these turned out really great. love the idea of the inking being based on the colour below it

Glad you liked how they turned out :) I'll give contrast layering its own video in the future, but for now, this is a good substitute :)

Gorgeous dice. Really loving the gradient inking, too. The fiery numbers on the blue/green/purple look amazing!

These are really good! There are a lot of rainbow dice in the internet but these are definitely my favorite, and the gradient inking especially on the dark dice are absolutely gorgeous

I love the idea of filling the box molds with excess resin from your attempts. They would make a good patrion gift. Instead of going out of your way to make a ton of potions you could do small givaways where the winners get the boxes, dice, or anything else you make. An idea from me is to try to contact crafsman and ask him to sculpt a simple miniature that you can make a mold of and do different designs of like layering different colors, ex: green base, brown shoes, blue pants, white shirt, skin tone arms w/ white sleeves, and a skin tone face w/ brown hair. The Hank Hill.

Awesome like always but I have to say that orange/yellow ink on the purple/blue/green dice is absolutely awesome
