One of those weird moments where I get a crossover between the game dev content I watch, and the Rocket League content I watch.

I didn't expected this video to be this good. As a senior computer engineering student who worked on games for a year+ and specifically unreal engine multiplayer, The moment you mentioned player controllers and explained in detail with confidence, I got curious about your experience with gamedev. Are you working as a game developer? It's really hard to see the countless hours under the working products. it would be great help to me(and others) if you inform us with your experience making games and if you are making money/enjoyment/freedom from it. Since I sometimes feel like all my "countless hours" didn't returned me much. Great Video!
@HKBoba2 жыл бұрын
No I don't do game dev at any professional capacity. I've done it as a hobby for about 10 years. And it got me into coding when I was young. I'm currently an mid-level software engineer in FAANG. It's definitely never a waste! I truly believe the hours I spent on game dev. Helped me become a better dev in general which helped greatly in my career I see game dev like. How graphics designers working on brochures or ads in the day. They probably still draw and paint for fun. Game dev is that for me. My way of using my craft at a fun capacity.

@@HKBoba Thanks for the answer. I always think about the steve jobs quote "you can only connect the dots backwards" when I feel like I wasted or keep wasting my time and effort. You made me a little more motivated and hopeful. Thanks!

@tomallo992 жыл бұрын
Wow, that's amazing! I would love a part 2, but maybe instead of multiplayer, you will try to replicate the flips? I know it'll be extremely difficult, but I'm just so curious to see what can be done in this regard in such little time :D
@HKBoba2 жыл бұрын
Flips would be great! I have some ideas for it. it would involve extreme torque to spin then add a velocity in the direction I've applied the torque. The torque will have to have some resistance against air roll but not too much. so that we can cancel into half flips and stuff but not completely override it until maybe halfway through the flip
@tomallo992 жыл бұрын
@@HKBoba Yeah, that's what it at least feels like in the game. As a keyboard player making the flips in basic 8 directions (wasd, w+a etc.) would suffice but making this analogue so that you have full freedom with a controller sounds even tougher. Can't wait to see it!
@gcseixas2 жыл бұрын
