People buying these $335 shoes with a $2 squat and $1 nutrition.
@jaredhemingway607822 күн бұрын
This is a pretty douchey comment. Not everyone that begins lifting weights is strapped for cash. For investing into one's health, improvement and happiness... $350 is nothing. I've spent much more on one dinner more times than I can count.
@Nun_chucks22 күн бұрын
@ right right. It wasn’t a knock on someone spending money on shoes. It’s a knock on someone spending that much on shoes and not their mobility, diet, coaching, etc. Only an elite lifter really NEEDS these.
@jaredhemingway607822 күн бұрын
@@Nun_chucks I’d argue that elite lifters “need” them less. Their mobility is better, they’re stronger and already have their form down. It’s less experienced lifters who benefit the most from a high heel lift. And a shoe made with quality hence the price tag is for anyone who can afford them and wants to. Please stop thinking someone needs to be a certain level to “qualify” for quality. And for the love of god, tell me you don’t take supplements. $350 on supplements, now there is a literal waste of money. I digress
@jaredhemingway607822 күн бұрын
@@Nun_chucksI’ll throw this in too. When people play basketball, they wear basketball shoes. Baseball players wear cleats. Runners wear running shoes. All without being advanced. So, it’s not dumb for someone who lifts weights to wear weightlifting shoes. And guess what, those with money, buy nice stuff. Jeez, gyms are so full of egos and morons. Now I digress for real, happy lifting

These have a wide toe box
@hashimiyazibАй бұрын
Just a warning, the toe box on these is wide but probably not as much as a typical "barefoot" shoe. I'm a size 8.5 4E (US) and fit snugly into my size 9.5 TYR L-1 lifters. Maybe these shoes are a little different, but it doesn't look like it. They should fit alright, but I suspect you should size up.
@stuffbenlikesАй бұрын
@@zacktelander I have eyes, and no, they are not a wide toe box. They might be slightly wider than normal, but that is not a wide toe box. You can tell because the toe box is shoe shaped and not foot shaped.
@masondixon1718Ай бұрын
@@stuffbenlikesI've been wearing Vivo barefeets for two years. Tyr L-1s fit me really well in the toe box. I occasionally wear toe spacers in them. A little tighter with the spacers than my Vivos but still comfy. I have really long toes, so I figure stumpier feet may fill out a toe box more than mines.

I saw this video, and I said: fuck it, I'm gonna buy these instead, they look amazing. Unfortunately I'm in the EU, and here you can find them only in black.. if I were to buy them from US I'd have to spend over 400€ so it's a no no for me. Congrats on the shoe! Definitely a lot of resemblance to the Adidas classic shoe. As for the "ideal squat technique", you may want to review the video - every time you come out of the hole your weight shifts FORWARD (as u clearly see heels coming up), thus losing full foot contact with the floor. Perhaps it's due to the "dive-bombing" in the descent but whatever it is it's certainly NOT "perfect" technically. 🤷😉

Excuse my ignorance, as I like Zach’s channel but don’t know a ton about Oly lifting, but instead of using shoes with an astronomical drop to account for lack of ankle mobility, wouldn’t it just be better for overall health and mobility to, I dunno, actually work on improving ankle mobility? A 1-inch drop on a gym shoe seems absurd. Secondly, Zach talks about how great the construction quality is, but I mean, I’d be shocked if it wasn’t great on a pair of shoes that’s more expensive than some people’s car payments.
@zacktelanderАй бұрын
It’s purpose built for squatting, snatching, and clean and jerking. It is not a “gym shoe”. Please do not buy these if you aren’t a serious lifter.
@misterbeaneАй бұрын
@@zacktelander You didn't answer my question, though. Why wouldn't it be better to focus on improving ankle mobility, which can only help improve performance in those lifts, rather than consistently lifting in shoes with a 1" drop? On that note, taken even farther, why stop at 1"? Why not 1.5" or 2"? Also, a "gym shoe" is literally just that: any shoe you use in a gym, and this is 100% that, regardless of specificity of purpose.
@patrickl52903 күн бұрын
@@misterbeane Sometimes bone shape\injury prevents developing enough ankle mobility. I personally have injured my right ankle a fair bit and cannot squat without buttwink because my right side is not mobile. Zach is right, w the price tag it makes no sense to buy these unless you perform the snatch/c&j/front squat regularly and plan to in the future. That being said, you should try lifters, the stability makes oly lifts and squatting much more fun imo
