The experiment was worth a try 😅. I wonder if you got a bucket that was medium sized (in between the small bucket and the large bucket) if that might be a more comfortable adjustment for them. I think (just guessing) that the larger bucket might be too tall for them to easily climb up and stalk you easily when it’s time for food 😂😂

Frogs are such bizarre creatures! That behavior of hiding in a bucket is very cat-like. The thing with cats is the smaller the space, the more they seem to like to hide in it. They DO NOT like being exposed out in the open unless they're in a room with people they trust.

My wild tree frogs live in pvc pipes, that are capped at the bottom and holes drilled about 3 to 4 inches up so water can be in the bottom, then one hole at the top so that you have something to hang it from and put a screw through it to hang it and tape it so there are no rough edges on the inside you can sand them as well sandpaper. But all day they sleep in them and come out at night it's really cute to see them dropping their heads up out of the pipes

How interesting! I thought they'd like the bigger bucket too but nope! They're just like people. You get used to something even trying to improve it the old thing feels better. They like the feel of the smaller bucket. They're used to it and there was nothing really to improve and they said OK mom, old bucket please! We like that one better in the end. We don't mind crowding into it. We feel more secure. Bigger bucket zero, old bucket 1.
