@rawilson77685 ай бұрын
I think in your window you need a large hand blown vase of many colors, so the sun shines through it and shines jewels of color around the room. Get an oversized one and don’t put any thing in it like reeds or dried grasses. Let the light from your window have a free path through it so it sparkles. You could put a small assortment of colored bottles of different shapes and colors up there too. Italy is known for beautiful glass and that is a great window sill for displaying some!

Well done, Julie! The place is looking so lovely, elegant, and comfortable! I just have one teeny, tiny idea about the living room. What would you think about reversing the positions of the two wonderful glass-topped tables at either end of the couch? At least from what I can see on the video, the larger square table sticks out just enough that people might feel a bit of a risk - even if it's subconscious - of bumping their knee on that metal corner as they're coming down the steps. This could just be me, but I think the smaller round table would create an easier sense of flow as you enter this room. Also - oh god, here I go - what about removing the square painting behind the hat rack and hanging an oval mirror in its place, to match the curving lines of the other pieces on that wall? Thanks so much for asking for our input, and I hope I haven't over-stepped your generous invitation!

My suggestion for above the kitchen sink in front of that nice new clean window, would be three or four pots of mother-in-law tongues. They are a beautiful plant that can offer you privacy and they can live through some pretty bad drought. They're the perfect plant for people who kill plants.

I needed a new stove here on Cape Cod and decided on a white Bertazzoni which elevated my whole kitchen. I am still learning how to use all the burners and the oven. . If your oven gives a loud bang after about 10-12 minutes ..the technician all tell me that is normal though I have never heard a bang in any other stove. They say that is may diminish over time or completely go away. There is company in the States that imports handmade tiles like yours and they are the only ones I am considering for my kitchen. You should feel very proud of yourself having done so much of the work yourself.

Oh Julie, the kitchen is absolutely stunning and I LOVE the marble sink. How about putting a beautiful piece of pottery in the window area? The painting over the couch in the kitchen is contemporary yet fits in perfectly. The one thing I find odd about Europe is that their are no window screens to keep out bugs. For that high window nook, what about an antique water vessel? Either pottery or glass... something that looks ancient! Or an ancient Etruscan olive oil vessel! With handles! Large enough to warrant that space and to draw the eyes up! So glad to find another 'collector' of tea towels! I am not alone in my gathering and 'rescuing' of these beautiful textiles! For the dingy crocheted lace pieces -- try soaking them overnight in some Oxy-Clean. If the fibers were originally white, they will come clean (or whiten up) after several overnight soaks in that Oxy-Clean or similar. Perhaps sun bleaching on your terrace in full sun, too. I am having SERIOUS kitchen envy! Can hardly wait for the final full reveal!
@louisebrislane66075 ай бұрын
Those lace strips are not hard to crochet, so if you know someone who crochets or will teach you to do so, you could easily produce some new ones to take their place. If you wanted off white, then tea dye them when finished. Ten years ago I would have happily made some for you but arthritis has finally caught up with me & so I am no longer able to continue knitting or crocheting. Actually, you could also knit them as I have done knitted laced strips in the past. You just need to go online for a pattern.
@kathymcfarland55165 ай бұрын
@@louisebrislane6607 Yes! There are also some newer crocheted lace designs available in craft or sewing shops. Some are quite nice. Those in the video looked vintage and wrapped around the edges of the shelves. A look I had not seen before, but very effective for a vintage piece like that. Behind closed doors, the kitchen fumes and odors might not make them too icky around pottery and glass.
