This one really makes re-sellers look bad. In 30 seconds anyone there could have pulled out their phone and taken a look at comps. This is basically going into someone's house, seeing their collection of autographed baseballs, and saying '$10 for that Ty Cobb? That sounds fair to me!' You can't say you had no idea with respect to their value when you had a phone in your pocket. Who doesn't know that old comic books are valuable? Seriously. Re-selling is a great way to make some extra money, but fleecing people paying 1 cent on the dollar is a bad, bad look.

Great Pick! Definitely a situation where you should have rented a U-Haul and filled it up. Now that you are full-time this would have been an amazing multi-day pick opportunity. Just an FYI. You can pay the $35 to $40 for an extra bag on your flight (weight limit up to 50lbs, most airlines). That would be an extremely 'cheap' way to get extra items home. I live in California and have used this method when I've gone back East for sales (ie. Auctions in Mich. and Endless Yard sale).😁

Hey that’s a great find, I’ve been watching your channel for a long while now. Never commented though! Subscribed! I have to say this, and this isn’t directed at you personally, just something I’ve noticed with other pickers/re-sellers. Again, it’s not a dig. Sometimes with all the scurry of delving into one’s personal collections, it feels almost disrespectful, let me explain before everyone jumps on me. Ok… personally when I was younger my uncle had a great collection of vintage toys. Each and everyone of those items meant the world to him, unfortunately he passed away so his collection was basically up for grabs. As a teenager at the time all saw was a group of unknown people crazily going through items. No disregard to an item, only those items of a value to the reseller/s who at the boasted about what they paid and what they were going to make. The less interesting items just cast to one side. It saddened me, that the original owner of these items carefully cherished each and every item, to see these people just disregarding items and then just throwing them back into the box any old how sickened me. All these items were collected over years and each item had a memory, to see strangers just looking for that big return did upset me. I appreciate what re-sellers do, all the leg work to find those items to sell to collectors so they can be once again loved and cherished. All I would like to see is just a little more respect on how these items are handled. This isn’t about the money aspect, i’ve personally sold items for less than they are worth because I just want them gone, it’s helped me and it’s helped the re-seller. My only nag is regarding how these items are handled. Regardless if the person is alive or passed unwanted items shouldn’t be just thrown to one side our shoved back in a box. This all comes from what I’ve personally seen and how it made me feel. I’ve only posted this on here as I am sure you’ll understand where I maybe coming from. Anyway… great channel! :)
@jackiebd24

@@jackiebd24 Thank you so much for your kind words. Yes I did, in fact he was the one who got me into collecting myself and I love all the items I have been lucky enough to collect so far. My uncle said there was always a story attached to an item and he loved asking questions. I do respect collectors as without them items would be lost forever, so we are preserving history :). I just wanted to post the above message in hope it may resonate in one’s mind whilst diving into one’s items :) Thank you again

Oh…man. I saw you pass by some absolute gold. The market for comics is driven mostly by comic keys. A big key from 1986 with a 65 cent cover price can be worth many many times more than a run of the mill 12 cent comic from 1966.

A small fyi on the comics. A #1 Star Wars from 1977, $.30 cover goes for around $1000 (graded 10/ mint), maybe even more at Auction or to the right buyer. So yes, $.12 ers, are good, but it all depends. Just remember the old addage; Condition-Condition-Condition, with all that we deal in. 🙂

Grades for Star Wars #1 $.30 cover, between a 4.0 and 5.0 (professionally graded), are only around $150 to $200, on average. It's when you get into the 9.0 and above that they are real money. 🙂

Several points: 1) First and foremost congrats on the awesome find! You made out like a bandit lol. 2) To those complaining you may have underpaid, i give you the benefit of the doubt because you genuinely seem like you don’t have experience with comics. So in a way it’s kind of foreign territory for you. 3) Given the sample size shown, I would have made an offer on the entire collection, rented a uhaul and drive it all the way home :) 4) You picked up an Amazing Fantasy #14 …. One issue away from #15 (first appearance of Spiderman)… who knows it could have been in the collection!!!! 5) Is there a way you can update the audience on what big books the other pickers found?

Underground comics have a very large following. Especially, the 'Cherry' (also Cat Dancer, Omaha) you saw. Don't underestimate the offbeat brands of comics ( Kitchen Sink, etc.) from the 60s, 70s, and 80s. There is some gold there if in better shape and earlier print numbers. 🙂

Why can't you go pick there again? You probably said & I just missed it. I'll have to watch again to see if I missed it. If I were you I'd ask, actually beg my friend to let me go pick again. If you have the money, you would be smart to buy it ALL. I'd get a business loan if I had to. IDK what your finance situation is but I'd beg & borrow to scrape the money together. Alex from Curiosity Inc does that from time to time & he always makes A LOT of money doing it. Explain to her that many of the comics will get ruined with Winter coming & if a pipe burst, that's it. Hundreds if not thousands of dollars worth of comics could be ruined. If not you'll make some good money on the stuff you did get. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍...

I think next time. Don,t take the plane Go with the car and look for a nearby U-Haul If the place is full of good stuff like this place u can take a fully packed u- haul back home. And earn the money back for what you paid on gas and renting the u- haul. Be prepared next time lot’s of good money has now left behind.
THIS WAS AN INCREDIBLE DEAL!
