I love the idea of getting out super early but I would more likely fit him into a more traditional 8 wack style deck even if you can't make him the full 20/20, possibly fit back in some reach and disruption

I don’t think it’s worth it, manamorphose doesn’t add anything to the board and that’s super important to this deck

@@TheTinyman97 It is always worth it. There's a reason lots of decks run it. It replaces itself and gives the mana back, so it literally turns your deck from 60 cards to 56. Only reason it's not a staple of every meta is that it forces you to use the mana immediately, and most meta decks are control heavy.

Most likely. Only reason it probably wasn't run in this deck is that 100 dollar budget and manamorphose costs 4-5 dollars each which would add 15-20 dollars to the price

@Jamie that is just incorrect. Most meta decks are not control heavy unless you consider having basic interaction "control." Manamorphose is good in certain decks (prowess, storm) The reason is not played in every deck is similar for Street wraith and bauble. Being a random card isn't worth it unless there's other benefits to using the card. (Prowess triggers, storm count ) For bauble : Darcy triggers, artifact synergy, delirium. Etc.

I've been brewing with Stormchaser Drake & Fists of Flame with similar results: modern is a pitch-card midrange format right now and fun is strictly forbidden. Sick deck though. I only need like 12 cards for it so I'll build a version

I think the missing piece may be Summoner's Pact. Think about it, in these decks that are highly dependent on hitting certain effects, you see they're either in blue to get card draw or you see the number 8 to hit a certain consistency. 8rack, 8whack, 8cast, even Amulet Titan will run Summoner's Pact to have an effective 8 Titans, and with the addition of Urza's Saga they also effectively have 8 amulets. Find space for 4 pacts, I think that's the missing piece.

Summoner's Pact sounds sweet, although I'm not sure how consistently we'll be able to pay for it. We'd have to wait until at least turn four.

The goal is to win before you have to pay for it. Pact for Dino, whack it, win turn 3. If they counter your turn 3 Dino you probably lose anyway, go big or go home I say

@@joelhatterini6392 I don't think you necessarily lose at that point. After all, you've got a board of seven or more creatures, and some Bushwhackers still in your deck. A counterspell or Solitude on the Imperiosaur still leaves you with a proven gameplan.

FYI, I loved this so mucb I'm toying with it in Arena Historic. No whackers, but I'm trying with grazer for more mana and bodies, and reckless charge/kick in the door, to try and make the dino fast. Won first 3 matches (even one that countered my emissary) and eventually scooped to my first boardwipe. But it's fuuuun

I wonder if a rebuild of this and cutting the whacks in favor of the Revolt burning tree, and thrasta would better along with cutting epicure for goldhound or strike it rich. Then you have 8 imperiorsaur level threats. Maybe manamorphose as well. Keep the artifact token core. Maybe zome kind of a pumper but maybe going wide is good enough.

Something someone at my LGS pointed out to me: Kuldotha whack is a good deck against other fair decks, but folds to unfair stuff like reanimator, amulet or scam. Which unfortunately is a pretty large chunk of the meta.

I wonder if it would be better to play Experimental Synthesizer instead of Chromatic Star. I don't think you used the mana fixing mode of the chromatic star at all, your curve is cheap enough that you can almost always play the cards you get from the synthesizer, and it can get you 2 extra cards instead of just 1 to help you find your dino

I do agree that chromatic star felt useless watching the video. being a 2 mana draw 1 at best is pretty slow in this deck. I've been playing Experimental Synthesizer in the artifact 8 whack version and its pretty amazing, though I think that's because of the high volume of zero mana value spells. I've had a few instances where I exiled a card I wanted for next turn but couldn't cast it on the same turn. If you don't have the mana to cast what you exile when it ETB then its not any better then Chromatic star, plus the cards get exiled for good if you can't. 8 copies of free spells is not enough, but with this version there's a struggle for space to squeeze it in.

fury needs to be banned. it is farrr tooo efficeint for a pitch spell. The rest of the spells end of being a 2 for 1 or 2for 2 but Fury is almost always a 2 for 3/4.

Only issue is keeping up GG for Thrasta. You don't get to tap creatures for the Green costs like you do for imperiosaur. That makes the manabase more unstable than it already is. 🤷‍♂️

Haywire Mite is such a good sideboard card to hate on enchantment/artifacts currently. It's a cheap creature, it exiles so it can blow up the artifact lands, it can also hit enchantments so it can nuke Urza's Saga, punishing greedy decks a lot

The "fair" version might just be 2 goblin grenade 2 lightning bolt in the sideboard to take out the dino against decks that can counter it but then that's a bunch of your sideboard gone, I don't know

it absolutely needs to be banned. its a double strike finisher with the ability to 2 for 4 on weenies. the card effect should have required another card to pictch for each target beyond the first (kicker)

I would not call this deck fair when it's playing 8 0-mana spells to cast a 7-mana creature on T2/3. If Fury's banned, there's minimal playable counterplay on the draw to a deck like this. Even with Fury, the correct line is to hold your 0-mana creatures until T2 when you can go for it, and Fury doesn't help with that unless you have the narrow answer to Imperiosaur (or if you have to go with a T3 line because you didn't draw enough cheap creature makers).

Some kind of board protection in the sideboard I think could possibly go a long way, but I'm not sure if there is anything worth playing (budget or otherwise). Tweaking the sideboard in general has so many interesting options. I don't the deck can afford to sideboard in too much interaction, only stuff that protects the gameplan or maybe some additional reach. 🤔

I haven't been impressed with Synthesizer in the artifact sac package, it's awkward to play on turn one or even turn two sometimes (hard to play the card it exiles that early). Mishra's Bauble is pretty good though I think.

I'd disagree with the entire set being banned, as some of the cards would probably be fine to leave as is in modern (such as the enchantments/enchantress cards, The squirrel stuff nobody plays these days and some other cute green creatures, maybe some of the reanimation stuff and the planeswalkers for the most part). It's really just the Evoke Elementals (I would also argue that the blue one is probably fine, as it mostly sees side board play only against certain creature matchups), Ragavan, Murktide, DRC and Urza's Saga that are the problematic cards alongside Karn the great creator that are making modern stale as it is (despite the "Diverse" metagame).

​​​@@rpglover5955 The Modern Horizons sets were a cool collection of Time Spiral-style explorations of old design space ruined by chase mythics that threw balance to the wind in order to make WOTC giant piles of money. If you take out the busted staples from each set then they're full of cool stuff for brewers.
