"Yes, man, let's go for it." Love the low G on the Uke, I have a soprano and a tenor uke, and I typically keep a low G on the tenor. I would love occasional lessons focused on a low-G strung uke. It's comforting to know that even the best player can make a "dumb" mistake. Thanks for your honesty and humility. It's part of what keeps me watching.

Marco, there are two kinds of Low G. The Bound and Unbound low G. You probably have the Bound one. Terry Carter from “Uke like the pro“ made a video explaining the two kinds of Low G strings, with sounds tests and recommendations. He also made some more about different kinds of materials in making ukulele strings. It really helped me when I was shopping for a Low G ukulele. I didn’t know about the Bound and Unbound low G, or even about so many different kinds of strings (fluoro carbon, nylon, nylgut...).

Hello Marco, thanks for being so honest and telling us that you made a mistake. I own both - high and low g and sometimes I think about changing all to high g because that is the Uke's personality. But when I listen to some beautiful low g pieces I am happy to have the chance to play this as well. So, if you like to teach low g - then go ahead. I will follow you. Last thing, I prefer tutorials but I can understand your arguments that as a human being you can't always be as creative. Then I will follow what you are talking about and learn different things. Your channel is great as it is. Thank you.

Aloha from Kekaha, Kaua'i. I watched my first video of yours earlier and it was great. I will continue with more videos after i comment and subscribe. I have a Baritone kamaka that i keep and play in GCEA. My Grandfather kept his Baritone tuning when playing and simply switched ukulele depending on mood. Our instruments rarely see light because we never gather and "jam" like before. In 2019 my brother was getting together down the road with some unkos and aunties to "jam'" and his uke was home 30 min away. I was 1 minute away so he called to borrow my Kamaka. He came, i took it out of the case and to our surprise the A string was off. I told my brother theres extra string in the case, to keep ear on the stretching of new string. He left. Hour and a half later he calls. The nut where the A string sits, that corner cracked off. That was the only damage. After reviewing everything when I got it back I seen that a G string was used instead of an A. My brother made a mistake we all make mistakes. I need to go get the nut repaired so i can play again. Mahalo nui!!

YES MAN LETS GO FOR IT! The tutorials are why I am a Patreon and watch you on KZbin. There are plenty of people on you tube who talk but teach nothing. I think how you run your channel is a nice balance of talking teaching illustrating and demonstrating. I bought a Baritone Uke and had a Low G put on. I love the tone of my Uke. Tone from an instrument I think can only be heard by the player. The casual listener only hears what is being played with the tune from the instrument and they either love it and buy your records and come to your shows or they think you SUCK and will find someone else. So my opinion is you have a well balanced method that’s for those us who learn from your style of teaching.

You can buy low G strings that are unwound so you don't get the squeaking when sliding on chords. One of the youtube jazz ukulele instructors, Glen Rose says he just switches the G & C strings, using the original C string as a Low G string. Eliminating the need to purchase a separate Low G string. I think some ukulele strings makers may be now selling ukulele strings sets with low G as an option.
@odontomatix3 жыл бұрын
I put a low G by Aquila on one of my tenor ukuleles. I used the Aquila Red string. Some people say they break too easily. I haven't had a break. I tightened it gradually when first tuned. It's a little rough on the surface at first, but the roughness wears off. It doesn't squeak because it's not wound. I also have flat wound and half-round wound steel strings on my solid-body ukuleles, which don't squeak either. Regarding which is better, high g or low G, I say some songs are better with one and some with the other, so if you can afford, have 2 ukuleles. For example, I like the low G for "Mr. Bojangles" because it's great for the descending bass notes that are part of the song's iconic riff.
