Can i ask a question. Do you wear ear comms with the instructor velcro'd inside your own helmet or is the helmet supplied by the training company? Cheers
@TwoWheelsTommy4 ай бұрын
Of course. I use my own helmet. They supply the comms. On my CBT it velcro's inside my helmet, since then we have used an earpiece that loops over your ear. They are all awful!

First go out on the big bike and you were pssing it... coms aside, it's a good first ride out, even with a few mistakes, it's all gravy for the next lessons.. i blew past a junction on a lesson when coms cut out, or slotted into wrong lane a few times. I was meant to tap my head if they cut out, but i hate taking my hands on the handlebars, so waited till i stop..

I made loads of mistakes on lessons and i didn't have such an involved instructor as yourself, mine was pretty dire and its the second bad experience i've had with him where instructions are often late and he's humming into the intercom or blasting past you on the left for some unknown reason guy is a bit of a bell. MOD1 is booked for next month and i have another lesson as well as a lesson on the day so with a bit of luck i will get past it and onto MOD2 so i can be done with this long slog as i did my CBT in march of this year and its been one long haul due to availability of lessons to get to this point. And you have a rather nice bike to learn on too. I'm learning on a gladius that has been beat to hell and back lol
@TwoWheelsTommy5 ай бұрын
Oh that is weird behaviour for an instructor for sure! Good luck with your MOD 1, mine is next month and it can't come soon enough. I have ridden a Galdius and I feel your pain, the newer bikes are much nicer to ride. Can you try another training school possibly?

@shutinyanks That's a shame but it's not worth blowing loads of cash on. You'll get through it then you won't have to deal with it again. I hear you about the hectic schedule, it is a job for me to cram in lessons as I am a sole trader, with a young family and a house we are renovating. All of which sap time. But, once it is done, it is done - more time for riding!

@@TwoWheelsTommy ohh yeah i'm pretty much in that same boat, kids, renovating all that jazz its hard work and to throw in hobbies also just not enough hours in the day. It's true once its done its done, and onto just being out there riding where you want. Just a shame over here it's a mixture of no availability from schools and usually the testers are off sick a lot. My guess is because they also have to do car tests on top of motorcycle so no easy tasks for them and it sucks because us guys want to get on two wheels as quick as we can. Anyway best of luck with the journey its been great watching you progress and seeing some of IOW as my parents live in shanklin now.

How does it feel hopping back onto your 125 after riding big bikes?
@TwoWheelsTommy5 ай бұрын
Yes it is all coming together nicely thanks. I did consider it but we had already taken a look at it when we stopped and maxed out the volume. Paul was not to know I'd fitted it incorrectly, nor was I any the wiser since the earpiece on my CBT just pushed into the sidee of my helmet. I felt like a massive bellend when I figured out how you are meant to use it and loop it over your ear. You live and learn! My bike is proper tumbleweed after riding the Hornet 🤣

Those over the ear single earpieces are just Aweful because everybodys ear dimensions are different and the DVSA only has a couple of different sizes usually😕 I failed my MOD 2 test because I had so much difficulty hearing the examiner i missed Two very crucial lifesaver checks😮My fault entirely because I should have remembered that we wont be failed if we miss the examiners instructions as long as what ever we do is done safely🤔My Riding school uses the Sena 50s system which is compatible with all the Sena helmet systems right up to the Latest built in Helmet system for The Shoei Neotec 3. The school has at least 40 Shoei full face helmets fitted with Sena earpieces and mics. So they only have to clip on a total of 6 external Sena comms units to cover 2 students for each of the 3 Instructors🙂 My Shoei Neotec 3 Helmet with a built in Sena SRL3 Intercom is fully compatible with the schools Sena System using bluetooth pairing and is two way comms so we can talk to the instructor at any time we need to🙂 I am doing my second MOD2 test next Thursday @10:18 and if the examiner will let me I am going to plug in my In Ear Canal ACS Earplug/Comms speakers into their comms unit instead of using their over the ear speaker🤔 If they won't allow me to use them then I will simply do what I think the exaniner has asked me to do and not allow myself to get distracted from riding safely if I cannot understand the instruction due to poor comms😶 Sort out the comms and I am 100% sure you will pass your Mod 2 easily because your are a good, safe and confident rider😎

I think you do need to be a bit more mindful on your indicators, but at the same time, you’re riding is good. I also have to say that you do need to lower your visor down and think you’d be better on hearing your instructor as there’s a lot of wind noise, it looks like you don’t like to put it down, but don’t worry it’s a learning process. Good luck, hope you succeed with ease
@TwoWheelsTommy5 ай бұрын
Funny you say that I have been using the visor down on my trips to the post office this week. I think is because I'm used to riding my MTB with a full face helmet on that does not have a visor (Also I just got some new sunglasses, my previous ones I was using were polarised and this created a distortion in the visor. My new shades are non-polarised.) Thank you 👍
