That is not a little kitten. It is a juvenile cat.

It's not clear exactly where this cage was - in your home? Whatever the location, a cage is a cage AND Snake Cat is an ADULT FERAL (wild, undomesticated) cat. Please, understand this and you will understand him. He is neither stubborn or moody or any of the negative characteristics you attributed to him. It never should be a goal to make a cat "obedient". It is not desireable nor possible, especially a Feral Feline who has had to be fierce and fiercely independent in order to survive and protect himself from all manner of dangers. Let me share my story: I ended up becoming guardian of a feral recued cat that I i was supposed to only foster for one month. Her name was Stella. Stella had the run of the house but all I could do was feed her and clean her litterbox. Could not get physically close to her much less touch her. It was totally left to her to decide when she was feeling safe enough to take the initiative to approach me. It took her 10 MONTHS for her to come over to me -without any prompting- and claim me as her own by simply and gently rubbing her whiskers on my right ankle. 🎉 A moment edged in my mind forever. We shared a home, a life, for about 12 years. Snake cat probably didn't appreciate being named a Snake because of the negative implications that carried in these circumstances. All your efforts to touch and olay with your cat were well-intended but absolutely premature for a sick, confused and terrified animal to comprehend. You mught have actually had faster positive results if you left your kitty absolutely to himself, giving him as much space as possible physically and psychologically - just provide him food, water, litter and a safe space. Too much stimulation coming at your cat prematurely, with too many unfamiliar objects, smells and people while he was feeling trapped in a strange environment... So, unfortunately, you unwittingly managed to keep him terrified much longer than it might have taken him to make sense of his new situation and learn to trust. I am grateful for your commitment to this kitty and am sure you have learned a lot regarding how to treat feral cats from this experience. Thank you and many blessings to you and your wife. ❤😊

He or she must have lost but based on its dirty fur he/she probably lost for a long time or abandoned for a while. poor thing. Thanks for caring and rescuing it home.
