@@thaitalkwithdan no chance, to bring your partner to Australia it costing over 7k just for the tourist visa not guaranteed and you need proof of a long relationship. Most get turned down and you don't get the applicable fee back. Australia made it very difficult a few years back. I looks into it with my wife and kids during covid because I wasn't earning enough money then and we're married with 2 daughters because my wife's a head nurse and could have earned really decent money there but it was over 9k Australian dollars just for the application not guaranteed. It's a huge amount of money to lose if turned down. You needed alot of proof of the relationship and I couldn't even sponsor her because I've lived in Thailand too long. I had friends to do it and we have a good relationship but we still didn't see it as worth the risk when we really talked it through. This would take a immigration lawyers help for him and alot of lying to get the visa.

All I see is red flags as an Australian who lives in Thailand with my wife and daughters for 15yrs knowing how much Australian visas cost cost to bring a Thai woman back to Australia and knowing decent Thai women never like their children living with their ex husband. It's more likely they'll still married. It costs many 1000s to just get a visa for your Thai partner to come to Australian not guaranteed and you don't get the money back if turned down. It usually ends up costing much more in lawyer fees and will never get approval with such a short relationship.

Of the two most obviously educated Thais I met in many years, one was educated in England, and one in the USA. This was decades ago, when universities in both countries could still actually help students learn something.

As with alit of majors in western countries the pay scale once you're out of school can vary widely..for example i know a woman is also university she makes 300 baht per day. Granted, this is because she won't leave her village and would rather be close to her family but the point is still relevant. In this story there are more red flags but the beauty shop may not be one. Although her doing "facials" did give me a laugh 😃

I am a long time Thai resident. It is quite common in Thailand for divorced children to live with the father. My wife’s own children lived with their father when we first met. Do not underestimate the husband’s power as head of family and also the father’s parents say so when it comes where the children will reside. The wife rarely has any say.

A university degree doesn't automatically exclude the possibility of her being a working girl. I know a gal who went to Khon Kaen university. She's worked the bars in Pattaya for over 10 years because that's still the way to make the most money. All that said, it appears the guy in today's story is both committed and has his at least partially - if not fully - open about things. So, enjoy yourself. Just don't let the boom-boom cloud your judgment and don't invest more than you can afford to lose financially or emotionally.

At the good reputable Bkk universities a degree is handed to each graduate by the King, prince or princess and photographed and no Thai would dare to fake one so that is the proof. Any certificate (Thai/foreign degree, driving license, student card etc) is available for less than $10. Obtaining clear evidence of good work history for her, her mum and dad and even brothers and sisters is also highly recommended as well as learning where her good friends work and live. For good, traditional Thai girls almost all their friends will be from school and/or university and still be long time friends and none will live in Pattaya, Korat or even Phuket. Ideally she should not even have any friends working in a shop, nail salon or any other jobs middle class Bkk uni graduates rarely do. And of course no friends should work in a bar/club/hotel lower than genuine 5 star (I worked at Mandarin Oriental Bkk for 10 years and many staff are indeed good middle class Thais from decent families) or even restaurant etc. Preferably her family should be second or third generation Bkk born (or Chinese Thai), have owned a house in Bkk for decades, have worked in good govt or office/banking jobs or have solid evidence of a good long-standing family business. She should also probably be able to speak decent English and especially use correct tense. Thenglish is another red flag and seeing original bank accounts (you can visit the bank with her to collect them to avoid fraud) showing regular salary deposits for years and no dodgy sponsor looking deposits is strongly suggested. If you cant find that you are best just paying by the hour.

PS: in my views kids and or dating site history is not always a defo red flag (although not ideal esp Tinder history) and the easiest most reliable tell is whether all her close friends are from the same (good) school and/or uni. There is hardly a respectable middle class Thai whose long time friends are not all from her academic past.

This is what happens when you think with your old fella. A friend's son ,good looking young guy fell for a thai girl ,spent thousands for an aussie visa on her. I did meet her ,pretty hot girl ,loved a drink and looked very street wise. Long story short, as soon as the visa landed in her hands everything changed, hot girl plenty of money in Australia ,party time for her and unfortunately he wasn't part of the party. He moved on but learned a lot . Don't play against the odds, Dan's channel makes it obvious that it's not impossible but very close to. Easy. The direct trans-Pacific routes are among the most profitable (aka expensive) in the world, so there are better options on better airlines via Asia, if you've got the time. I once had a fare that was Philippine Airlines one way and Air New Zealand the other. Have you ever tried to redeem frequent flyer points to/from the USA in business class? Extremely hard to do. But it's often possible to find award space via Asia, because of the vast number of airlines. More than once I've redeemed points for a flight direct to the USA and couldn't find any direct options back, so I've redeemed for flights via Asia instead.

Spot on advice Dan. But I would like to add a few things. One mistake almost every farang makes with a Thai woman is this. They buy her jewelry. That is an open invitation for her expectation that you will buy her more jewelry for no reason. Only buy her jewelry when you get married. After you marry you can buy more. Is she a devout Buddhist? This really does change the way that a woman will act. She will be much less likely to scam you. Last thing. Are you going too fast? The answer is yes. I have a theory about liars. The difference between a good liar and a bad liar is how long they can remember their lies. If their story starts changing, walk away. I did apply this theory to my Thai wife. We met on thaifriendly back in 2017. It wasn't until 2020 that I was going to go to see her in Thailand. But covid happened. It would not be until 2022 that I went to Thailand. That extra 2 years made a huge difference. In all this time her story never changed. When I got to Thailand, It was not if we would marry, it was when we would marry. 2 weeks later we tied our wrists in her home village's temple. Yes, she is from Isan. She is divorced and has 2 children. They are both in their 30's and very successful. I live in Isan. I meet my wife's friends. They are all awesome. My advice would be to continue the relationship. Be aware of my theory about liars. If your girl is honest, you will find the best woman in the world. BTW Dan, I am just up the road from you in Korat.

Are you willing to pay over 7k aud plus the lawyer fees which will more than double that for a woman you didn't know her for a week and get nothing back if its turned down? You don't get it back if she gets refused and shes more than likely still married to her husband. All i see is red flags here. Sorry to say that but im also Australian living in Thailand for 15yrs with 2 daughters and when we looked into it we decided it's much better to stay in Thailand and we're married now with a good relationship. You wouldn't chnrge your whole life in Australian for someone you met and spent such little time with. You'd date, get to know the family and her friends before even moving in together so you really have to look at it that way. If you want to take this serious, put the breaks on for a while until you can at least spend some serious time in Thailand together because its very rare for the children to live with the ex husband. The children will live with the mother's parent while they work because the daughters look after the parents. If they actually do live with her ex and they're not together anymore it would scare me even more knowing how Thai families work. I really hope you haven't paid for the visa applications already because they're not even easy to get for Australia anymore. Most are turned down.

All relationships with women start fine and have potential to take a turn for the worse. It's universal, not unique to Thailand. In Thailand, the women are perceived as the bread winners. They will feel pressure (either self imposed or by family members) to send money to relatives. I don't see any red flags with the viewer's girl, but that doesn't mean anything really. I think at some point.. you have to take a risk and not worry about these things otherwise you're bringing that bad energy into the relationship which can manifest into reality.

As for this Aussie fellow, he has dived head first into the deep end of the pool where all the sharks swim. Going way too fast and should stop that tourist visa.
