What Dan meant when he talked about the parrying was that they added tempo and vent to prevent infinite parry trades but most people were bad at the game and were not capable of infinitely parrying. He went on to say even the top guilds and players didn't parry trade forever and mentioned Drag as an example because Drag could 5 bar top players.

Venting was added because getting hit wouldn’t reset your parry cooldown anymore and the parry cooldown also got raised to be higher

But as Dan said, infinite parry trades didn’t really happen, even in the highest level, and that there is a good amount of skill expression like Drag 5 barring top players. You can watch Drag’s or CountKO’s old vids, the parry trades were impressive but they still managed to do combos and beat their opponents with good mixups and stuff.

@@lam.hg06 defense was too strong back then. Getting hit reset your parry CD and the parry CD was lower than what it is now. Infinite parry trades wasn’t an issue nor did it exist in high levels of play. Fights just took way too long back then.

I definitely think that reservoir was better than tempo, and i found the interaction of eating spark glands and such giving you reservoir back interesting. Its a shame that to1 just completely skips lower erisia prog, i want to have those fights with nobody having anything good and like 1-2 mantras but i also dont want to prog for a long time to i use to1 and it skips all of that. I remember sitting in sharko cave after getting kicked away, only for somebody to show up and kill me, or actually going to fort merit to level up, just taking mantras and talents i thought were cool.

Nano can you be honest because this is something I really want to know. Did og deep have better ideas? I know it wasn't fully fleshed out as deepwoken is today but would it be fair to say that if they stuck with their original ideas that they portrayed to us through the deepwoken directs and tester videos, that the game wouldn't be so rushed and might actually be better made today? I get that I wasn't there back then so I don't know much and I'm really biased about og deep because it looked better to me but thats where it lies, it looked better I don't really know though, the only thing I can think that people say about it is that since it was much more hardcore looking it wouldn't have drawn in more players which I agree with but I kinda wished they would follow their path down hardcore games as thats their og fanbase coming from rogue.

There can’t be forced or complex PVE because the pvp hardcores will complain, can’t have forced or hardcore PVP because the hardcore pve players will complain. Then to top it off you have the despicable shitters from rogue who ABUSE EVERYTHING and even they get appealed to (the game always bleeds when they appeal to them because the other 80% hates that shit). Like it’s insane to me that people think their planetary shadow gun is fine and needs zero nerfs ? And its not even like a small margin either. Overall the Devs are stretched way to thin and need to back up and be transparent for a moment.

I haven't watched nano in a while, but why does he laugh like a goblin now LOL. But relating to the video, I think they should add a global cooldown to mantras. With a cooldown of one second it would stop those flashy anime combos that are just impossible to parry, ESPECIALLY in this verse 2 parry stun timing. Mighty omega has this and people that grind that game love the combat. It would make deepwoken's combos more skillful rather than just pressing 1234 like every gale or no attunement user, it would also nerf the cheesey flame and shadow users as well cause stuff like shadow gun is so much easier to parry when it's used as an individual mantra, instead of a gb combo extend. It would make things like warden blades and metal armament op, those just need to be nerfed in response to these changes like reducing their hit speed. Now for the combos, how they'd go is people use more knockback mantras like thunder kick, aerial attack into it, and use another mantra.
