In 2019, it didn’t work out logistically for me to go spend with Christmas with my family, so I just went into extreme introvert mode and didn’t leave the house or have physical contact with anyone for an entire month. At the time it felt so refreshing. But 2 months later we had the first COVID case in my state and I had to go into isolation for 2 years because immunocompromised and in respiratory failure, so very high risk. It was brutal, and I found myself wishing I had that voluntary month back. I didn’t think it would happen but I did miss people. Especially once the world started opening back up to everyone else but was still far to dangerous for me. That’s when things got really lonely.
