I looked up the origin of having a number done on oneself and it's inconclusive. Some say it's from boxing as different punches had numbers and another origin states it's from vaudeville as all acts were numbered. I was curious too so had to look it up. I wish I had a firm answer to give you.

I find brand slots to be more entertaining even if they dont pay as much, like you say. I've hit quite a few times on these types of games. Some people play these slots for entertainment value. Not sure why people feel the need to make these kind of comments on videos of people who have been making these types of videos for long periods of time, they make these videos to entertain their audience.
