@@nipunkothari5518 Can you define who are Hindus actually are?
@tarunsisodia9157
@tarunsisodia9157 2 жыл бұрын
@@warpdrive9229 Well the term Hindu itself is not actually of Indian origin (It is derived from Sindhu River which Greeks called Indus and Persians Used Hindu for us- old Persian/Avestan and old Sanskrit are sister languages and in many words you will find S to H shift). So Hindus for foreigners is anyone who lived beyond Indus River. We Hindus started identifying ourselves as Hindus mostly after Islamic Invasions. Well "who is Hindu" is not same as asking "who is Christian/Muslim". The concept of religion (western lens) cannot really explain it. Because Hinduism is something which incorporates, adopts, questions itself from time to time, that's why if you check you wouldn't find a concept like blasphemy in Indian religions (Sikhism is an anomaly for very obvious reasons). There are multiple school of thoughts which have coexisted with each other and have shared sense of culture, history etc. And every now and then these schools of thoughts have adopted each others' practices while also challenging each other beliefs based on rationale(these schools used to have debates/duels in ancient times). Hope that explains your question.

Few corrections: Diwali (Deepavali) is not the new year for Hindus. Yes, it is festival of lights but as Vinod ji said it's not like new year. The day is celebrated to mark the returning of Bhagwan Shree Ram, his wife Devi Seeta and Brother Laxman after killing evil man Ravan and completing their 14 years of exile. It's basically celebration of victory over evil, knowledge over ignorance, light over darkness etc. And there are many events and stories associated with diwali since India's culture and traditions changes after every 100km. But in very few states/ palaces diwali celebrated as new year. New year for Hindus falls in the month of April called Ugadi/Gudi padwa/Bihu etc. New bud, New flowers, fresh air and small insects/birds carrier pollen and busy in making food. Overall all a new beginning associated with nature. Edits: ok ok.... I got to know that Jains and Gujjus celebrate New year on Deepavali. Very strange but not surprised since Hinduism is broad and vast you can expect everything.
