Non-dairy Milk is pretty easy to find (especially in Berlin). You can always ask for vegane Milchalternativen or just specific products which will invariably be "german name of nut/grain"-milch. So for instance almond milk is Mandelmilch.

Jade, non-dairy milk availability varies between supermarkets in Germany. In Aldi and Lindl, you can usually find "Lactose-frei" or "Mandelmilch" (almond milk). When I lived in Berlin, there was a ReWe next to my apartment so I usually just shopped there. They usually have multiple varieties of non-dairy milk-- Lactose-frei, Mandel, Hafermilch (oat) and sometime Mandel-Hafer blends. Bio and Edeka are more high-end super markets so I'm sure they probably have different varieties as well. Enjoy your time in Berlin!!!

I studied in Berlin in 2007 and I stayed in exact same flats you're in! (I also was in the double room) Watching this video is making me sooo nostalgic, especially as it was this time of year I moved in, too. I have so many good memories there - it changed my life. Watch all the German MTV together while eating cereal and enjoy the neighborhood - it is absolutely magical, and eat at my nearby fav restaurant Thai Huong Snack (next to Aldi) for me :)) The tofu there is incredible (best I've ever had - I return every time I go back to Berlin). In the Netherlands we have an app that divides the costs like groceries for you. I use it in my student house and it is super useful! Would definitely see if there's an international version if I were you, cause it will save you a headache 😅

Roommates agreements are such a good idea! I lived with two girls last year and it didn't really work out for of us. None of us actually wanted to live there, we were shy finns and there was a lot of passive aggressiveness because we didn't tackle the problem.

This isn’t rude at all, thanks for raising! I probably should’ve mentioned this but both my housemates have negative COVID tests (which means technically we don’t have to quarantine by government regulations). Our quarantine is uni-imposed as an extra precaution, and the only time we can leave is to buy food.

I am in quarantine in Hong Kong right now and I can't leave my hotel room and I believe in every country with quarantine it is to not leave once you are in (or in this case mixed with individuals from high-risk countries).

She said in another comment that they all tested negative, which means the German government doesn't require you to quarantine longer. Her uni is making them doing quarantine but they are allowed to buy groceries with a mask on.
