Great perspectives Jess! I've been to Rome, Siena, Pisa, Montepulciano, Cinque Terre, Venice (some of those multiple times) and I just love it there. Much of the country, especially Tuscany, reminds me of the Hill Country in Texas where I used to live. I love the simpler style of life. I'm a hard, physical worker so I guess I appreciate the Italians better than most. And you hit the nail on the head when you spoke about how long it takes to get through town. Even though I had short stays in towns I made local friends. Just grabbing morning coffee in the shop in Manarola would sometimes take 20-30 minutes because they just want to talk and be friendly. I remember one time, I asked a waiter in Riomaggiore if I could go into the kitchen and film the chef making a pizza and without hesitation, he did. And the chef loved it. He didn't know a lick of English, nor me Italian, but my dad was a baker so I knew most of what he was saying just by the gestures. Another trip to Manarola a bus boy struck up a conversation with my wife and I and he got his playing cards and proceeded to put on an impromptu magic show for us at our table for our anniversary. And we chatted about the US and life in general. Very engaging people. I miss Italy and the people very much.

You spotted real typical Italian habits that are not so easy to understand ! The fact that it takes an average of 15/20 minutes that just drink a coffee at the bar is so accurate ! Thank you for the love for our country !

Thank you for explaining that Italian food is much wider than what is known abroad. I would add that between dishes and products, in Italy there are about 4500 of them. Each region has a different cuisine and even the individual cities have unique things that you cannot find elsewhere.

You are such a smart girl, and I love hearing your opinions. I was in Italy for 10 days in 2015 for my sons wedding in Orvieto, and we had the best time. We also spent time in Florence and really enjoyed it. Thankfully it was in May. I speak no Italian, and my most memorable moments in Italy were trying to communicate with Italians that spoke no English. Most everyone was really sweet and helpful. I was confused by one hotel clerk who spoke perfect English with a British accent, who actually was Italian. Great guy. Lastly, I agree totally with your thoughts on America. Travel opens the mind to new thoughts, which we need more of. Ciao!
@loveandlondon4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your nice comment Joe! That hotel clerk likely learned British English, which can be quite different to American English and obviously takes into account the differences in pronunciation. English is hard! Lol. Take care.

Delightful video! ⭐️ In French we say “Les voyages forment la jeunesse.” Or, travelling trains/shapes youth. Nothing better to help make an enlightened, openminded, cultured citizen of the world. Good for you! I’m the France/Britain fanatic in the family; my sister is the Italy fan: going there are among her best life experiences. She loved Lucca, like a mini-Florence: lots to see, charming but not overrun. ☮️❤️🇬🇧❤️🇮🇹

Professr Frank what you like about UK ?
@mr514064 жыл бұрын
Three words: booze, books and buddies! Same reason as France actually. But I just feel at home there. I had always been a British television fan (the CBC always put up a lot of BBC shows, I grew up on the Goodies) and music fan (what is more British than Pet Shop Boys?). My trip last year felt like coming to my 2nd home. I’m not the first Canadian to say this. Many French Canadians have said they feel more at home in London. Paris is beautiful to visit, and they (sort of...😜) speak the same language. But Brits think and behave like us: culture and comradely. And cooking too.

Italy is definitely NOT one of the poorest countries in Europe. Italy has the 4TH highest GDP in Europe and is still part of the G7. Thanks for watching! Her school should provide info on finding accommodation and there are also websites like Student.com. My biggest advice to parents with kids studying abroad is you need to make/let them do everything involved, it's their decision and ultimately it's an insane privilege to be able to study abroad so she must be also able to handle the tough stuff that goes along with it :) That's what I had to do when I studied abroad and it helped me feel more confident in my abilities to problem solve and to travel.... Good luck to her!! It will be life changing!

Ciao 😊 I've been to Italy three times with school (I was in a European class and we did exchanges with Montepulciano, this city is gemellata (twin city?) with my native town in France). Last year I went to Florence for a few days and I loved it, as you said everything is accessible by foot. I mostly did tourists activities but I found few gems in the way. I remember a little restaurant that serves the best French fries, actually lift up to my mum French fries with garden potatoes. I didn't had the time to '' do it all'' but I would love to visit again and discover new things. I was supposed to come to London in May (already have my oyster card) but it's gonna be delayed a bit 😢

Italy was the 4th economic power until the 90s.. It is not even one of the poorest in Europe. It is number 4 and number 8 globally...The stigma is really not working for Italy. If your grandmother is italian, ,you could ask for the italian citizenship. According to the italian constitution, all descendants form italians are "italian". Get the birth, marriage and dead certificates form the italian person (your grandmother in this case), up to you. Go to a comune, and file the papers.

Hi Lisandro, I actually began this process a few years ago. It's a very difficult process and not straightforward at all. Maybe something I'll continue eventually, when I have more money, as it's also incredibly expensive! Thanks for watching :)

It's very different to many cultures, that's what's so great, but also can be tricky!

Love and London: I was going to really enjoy your channel, about London. & it's people,. But when your company, donated money to a group call Black Lives Matter. In which I can't believe there's not a better group to place your money, to help the black people, around the World. But if your willing to give to the BLM, then your company would give to Antifa, & for that reason, I'll have to unfollow. London, look's like Amazing, & Beautiful, place to Live. Love and London : Take care of yourselve's, & Stay Safe. Have a Outstanding Thursday Night, Friday, & Weekend. Wishing All of you alway's, the very best for year's to come.
