So, my coworker resigned. He's just tired of the stress at our company here in San Diego. I've been sending him vids to encourage him to take a leap of faith and try out BGC if only for a month to get a feel for it. Do you ever go to the mountains, rivers, island hopping, etc? Palawan, Corona, Siargao, etc?

The people who work at the restaurants and shops make minimum wage and have to deal with traffic; still they manage to smile and serve your food with a Filipino smile. My hats off to those waiters and waitresses and cooks.
@rodinvillarosa2924Ай бұрын
Pls correct me if I'm wrong, most waiters/tresses in the US earn less than minimum wage and have to make up the rest in tips.
@rl8571Ай бұрын
@@rodinvillarosa2924correct but please hand the tip as cash directly to your waiter. If you add it to the credit card, the owners split that down to other staff that are actually already getting the minimum wage while the waiter who worked that tip has half of minimum wage so the non-waiter staff gets to double dip.

Definition of a 1st World Country: A country that supported NATO during the Cold War. 2nd World Country: A country that supported The Warsaw Pact during the Cold War. 3rd World Country: A country that remained neutral during the Cold War. The Philippines supported NATO. It's a 1st World Country by definition. Switzerland, and Ireland remained neutral. They are , therefore, 3rd World Countries. I believe the terms you are looking for are undeveloped, developing, and developed countries.

The American vlogger who got taken went to the "Philippine red zone" which is on another island, that is thousands of miles away from Manila. If you check his channel, he himself was well aware of the dangers of living in that area. Both the Philippine and American governments have advised tourists to avoid venturing out to that region. The vast majority of us Filipino Christians don't even dare venture to that part of the country, due to religious extremism and terrorism from a certain demographic.

Stop using Philippines as a third world narrative. You may want them to click, using this as a clickbait, but people in SM do not watch KZbin videos. You are simply promoting the country as third world. You’re not doing Philippines a favor with this click strategy. Stop that!

BGC is a joke. We took P2P from Nuvali and the restaurant quality is so substandard compared to Nuvali or Tagaytay. Even many of the retailers are the exact same one can find at any SM mall. There's plenty of other places to visit in the Philippines far superior and more enjoyable. Iloilo, Palawan, Tagaytay, Nuvali are just to name a few. Actually even Makati from One Ayala & Glorietta or the MRT has everything or SM Auroa. Or Binondo for authentic Chinese. BGC again is a total waste for lazy vloggers.

I was born and raised in Portland. Although I am no longer there, and would rather live in the tropics, I think your description of PDX is shallow. BLM did not burn the city down, it took place within a few city blocks, and the battles were started by fascists from Vancouver and racist cops trying to exert violence. Your normally decent essays are dented by your elitist attitude. Go to the province for a while and perhaps you'll be a bit more wise about where you come from and where you think you belong.

You moved to a third-world country only to live in BGC which isn't the Philippines. It is 240 hectares (1 square mile) of fantasy in the entire PI. Good luck getting used to the rest of the PI once you leave the mile area unless you are planning on staying your entire life in that small area. No electricity with brown outs and no running water and no toilet paper anywhere. People also complain about the food there too in comparison to all other Asian countries it comes in last for many. You will be treated like a walking ATM machine. My advice is have a good time and then leave. Develop your people skills instead of relying on money to leverage gilrfriends.

BGC is still the Philippines... Just a different experience. Just because it's different, doesn't mean it's not a real experience. If you want to equate the philippines as dirty, grimey, filthy, and poor... Maybe that's your version of the Philippines. It's not wrong or not real, but it's a different experience. BGC is the same, it's just as real and just different. As my sister who still live in the Philippines says... "BGC is sort of a bubble, but it's still part of the Philippines... It's the new rich people's playground. There are other places like it, like Nuvali, Alabang, Newport, ASEANA City... They're just that... A place in the Philippines for rich people. But, just as much a part of the Philippines experience as the poor and dirty parts or the touristy nature experiences."

You don't learn the language and expect them to use English. They are not completely fluent in English. There are seconds delay in understanding or misunderstandings all of the time.
