Hi Ralph. I have had the opportunity to play with Doc "Well Git it" and he was the loudest mother I have ever heard and he was 87, I was 57. Taken some lessons from Chuck Lazarus with the Mpls symphony and a great guy has some different ideas that helped. Doc spoke to Herseth getting the initial gig with Chicago on a 7B and Doc had several different versions. Doc played Jet Tone because he had to sit out for 20 minutes, pick up a cold horn and blow a high G. I am sure Doc got "in shape" for this and some form of a 7. Amazing stuff and so lucky to be around while he was around. The best.
